Thanks, Kuya, for your support. Today, I had an "unscheduled" work cocktail party I had to attend - 800 guests where I only knew four people plus the hosts. Managed to work the crowd and get out in 45 minutes without AL. But, when I got back to the hotel, did I ever want a glass (or 2,3, 4) of wine. Swam, treated myself to a massage and comfort food of french fries. Now that I am safely through the difficult period, feeling "free at last" for the time being.

My 30 day plan
Free- Good on ya! Thank you very much for your story and thoughts!
I have a little social engagment this evening where I know I am going to be put to the test. Drinking, well I wont do and not worried about. Just worried about the thoughts and cravings and awkwardness of telling people I dont drink and looking like a pariah. (I am pretty well associated with good times and boozin it up to well.. pretty much everyone I know.)
This will make 31 days AF for me. Not about to mess that up now!
Hang in there bud, your doing great!

Thanks, all, for your support.
Rip, congrats on 31 days. Do let us know how the social event went last evening. I know how tough these situations can be.
TLS, thanks for the compliment -- don't know what kind of hero I am, just trying to get through each day AF and to treat myself and others with as much compassion as I can muster.
Happy to report 15 consecutive AF days and nights.Free at Last

My 30 day plan
Woke up ready for the day -- hit the gym, ate a good breakfast, chatted with my family back in the USA, and cranked out several hours of work for my client. Nice dinner and did the backstroke while gazing at the moon. Need to crank out one more report and I can call it a day. Oh yeah, did not drink today, making it 16 consecutive AF days.Free at Last

My 30 day plan
Quite a few thoughts about alcohol today, especially to reward myself for five solid hours of work on my client's programs. Pushed the thoughts aside -- hit the gym during the difficult hours and treated myself to a massage (on money saved by not drinking!). Happy to report 17 consecutive AF days.Free at Last

My 30 day plan
Congratulations on 17 days Free! Feels good doesn't it!
Update as requested: Made it through Friday and another weekend no issues. Starting to not think about it as much now after 34 days. Partially because I don't want to report in here that I failed heh though not a single person would judge me.
We're doin it man! Keep charging ahead!

!
Isn't it interesting that we don't want to let down a group of nonjudgmental people who we don't know in 'real life', yet most of us repeatedly let down our families and friends, and most importantly, ourselves, before joining MWO?
I am thrilled -and fascinated- by the whole process!
Let's have an AF week around here! :h NS

My 30 day plan
Free at last: The thought of doing the backstroke while gazing at the moon sounds like PURE HEAVEN to me. I am so jealous!!! Someday, when my kids are gone and I have a proper piece of property, my dream is to put in a lap pool so I can do just that myself.....
And the good news is, I will be able to do that backstroke while looking at the moon without fear of drowning because I will be sober!!!!I just won't anymore

My 30 day plan
Hi Jenniech, one of the perks for spending so much time in this hotel is the pool. I try to get as much "meditation" time in there as I can.
Rip, glad you made it through the social events without caving in. I agree with NS, I don't want to let anonymous people down, but for years didn't think twice about the impact my drinking had on me, my DH, or my family. Go figure.
Posted in the No Fooling thread that I had a tough day, though about "just a glass" and then came back to the hotel to a room with complimentary bottle of wine and a wine glass. After considering 1) drinking it; 2) taking it into work for a colleague I had a disagreement with or 3) pour it down the drain. Followed NS's previous advice and option 3 prevailed. Now off to the gym to let off some steam. Am past my difficult hours, and will not drink tonight so happy to report another AF day/night for me.Free at Last

Hello, Free
You really are having great success and handling the annoyances of travel (and life) in just the right ways in order to live the life you want! Congratulations on your 18 days of dominance!
I am at the end of my first-in-quite-awhile AF business trip (finally! 6 days seems like forever to me and is probably a little jaunt for you :H !!).
Thinking about you and how you are handling even more difficult obstacles really gave me strength - thank you!
