Pj, you are right before the magic Day 13. It was on that day, that something clicked for me, and I knew I'd be able to do this as a lifestyle.

one day at a time is tough

        Hi PJ,

It seems tough now, but stick with the 1 day at a time method, and time will move quickly. Take action daily to do something else to keep yourself occupied instead of thinking about drinking. It takes somewhere between 21 and 30 days to change a habit, and although it will get easier, it might be a few months before you quit thinking about it daily. What you need to know now is that after 11 days all of your cravings are mental urges. It's the devil on your shoulder questioning your willpower. It's your conscious against your subconscious. Keep doin what you are doing, and it will get easier and you will be rewarded when the monkey falls off your back......and he will.

        Great job!!

You've been CRITICISING yourself for years and it hasn't worked. Try APPROVING of yourself and see what happens......

            Welcome PJ,

Yes it really does get easier, and there are some techniques to help you before it truly does get easier.

Eat during that period that you are having trouble with. Really fill up your belly and that should put a big dent in your desire to drink.

Have you read about "urge surfing?" That concept helped me out.:welcome:
