Hmm, trying to think of hobbies but I just seem to go to work, come home, struggle not to go for 'carry out', read, watch telly and log on here. Seriously this is the place to be, this site or should I say the folks here are so 'real', no embarrassment, no bull, no lectures just a group of very real problem drinkers or whatever you want to call yourself. I do tend to get more engrossed in books than ever before as sober enough to do so, also write lists of thing to do, yes even boring household stuff that has been neglected. I try to focus on this time being time for me, so I do whatever I feel like in the evening (except drink) such as catching up with old pals which is quite hard to make the first move on, at weekends I go round charity/thrift shops for books etc and am a car boot maniac. Not really up to anything that I have to out at evenings for just now but am working on that. Keep looking in and keep posting when you feel like it. Really great support group and you really do get to know people individually even if it is just by their avatar name. Welcome again, I hope you get as much out of it as I do.

I'm struggling with what to do with my time now that I am trying to be AF 5-6 days a week too. It's difficult to know what to do with spare time. Cleaning house? Not such a fun thought. Friends? I've isolated alot these last few years in part due to drinking. So I'm trying to reconnect, but people's lives continued so it not as easy as I hoped it would be. I have been spending more time with my kids. That's a very positive thing. I've been thinking lately that I need to have a daily plan--like Mondays go to the library, Tuesdays to for a walk, etc...If anyone else has suggestions...

hey everyone..hobbies are great things...I always like to think of what people did before there was television or mass transportation...here are a few ideas:
make a little herb garden or pot some cherry tomatoes, peppers...or a flower garden, buy some containers..as you nurture it, think how you are nurturing yourself too
put some puzzles together
make a scrap book
organize your photos
start writing in a journal
join a club, church or volunteer organization (volunteer)
paint a picture or take a beginner watercolor class, or buy a paint by number kit
learn to crochet or knit
clean out closets and donate stuff to the needy
go to the library, check out lots of books and videos..learn something new
redecorate a room
join a gym or start a new exercise regime
take up photography and create a webpage
hmm...I need to do some of this stuff :-D

Let me add a few things -- sudoku, go to the library, make cool bath products (I find recipes on line), walk, try new recipes, learn a new language. I remember reading when I first found MWO (maybe in FAQs??) rent a movie, pop some corn and a l-glut and settle in for an AF night. (Kudzu works much better for me though).
I don't know if I can ever moderate again - but it was my goal. Now, after 38 days AF, I'm not sure I even want to get to moderation. This feels too good to be legal.
