    Do you Matter?

This is a long answer so my apologies in advance.

I have come to learn some things over the last few years but by far the most important realisation came when I noticed something about other people. I used to rage against the machine and for a long while there I just could not for the life of me understand why I was so uncomfortable in my own skin.
I was an empty suit listening to the whims of a fickle society and the reflections I saw in the imposed rules just did not gel with me. In essence I did not fit and I could not understand why. When I learned to see the rules and expectations that the wider media and society drills in our head were false at best, dangerous at worst I began to see the truth and that is this:

There is a unique spark of something inside everyone one of us and it makes us unique. It makes us truly one of a kind and in the billions and billions of souls that have existed, now exist or in the future will exist there will never be another you - ever! You may feel unappreciated and you may feel without a purpose but that is only because you have yet to grasp the quintessential truth that should govern us all. We are here for a finite time and whether to sweep streets, campaign for whales or a be a captain of industry, your contribution is singularly unique and cannot be replicated by anyone else forever.

When you grasp the cosmic importance of simply being you will begin to understand just how much you do matter to the world. Find your inner spark, find what makes you tick and makes you smile and become the most original and authentic you that you can be.

A small tip is that the universe has a strange way of giving back exactly what you put out. If you genuinely want to help people and you care for how others experience this tripped out thing we call life then you will receive the same treatment back multiplied by many times. If you choose to hurt and hinder that too comes with its own set of consequences. We get to choose, you get to choose. The most negative thing we can do is doubt our own need for being. It damages the soul.

You are you and that will never change. Instead of breaking your self down, celebrate the odd, strange cosmic set of random circumstances that resulted in your life. It is truly a wonder to behold.
I refuse to be labelled or ashamed. Through my struggles I am achieving self awareness and clarity.

      Do you Matter?

Thank you all so much for your insight and encouragement. Yesterday when I watched "Rain in my heart", I recognized the lack of self worth in each of the people in the documentary. I could relate to how this just feeds a desire to drink and hate yourself, and you drink more, and hate yourself more - and maybe it just began with a little girl who thought she was insignificant and thought drinking would fix it. It was a good observation for me.
10/14/13: I am truly grateful for another day in this amazing life. I'm sober and mindful of every moment.

I think that's the point, though. You can be important to lots of other people and you can know it. You need to find the importance in yourself. That's where I struggle. I know my family loves me, but they don't consider me. They disregard me because I appear to have my act together. It's a lie, though.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.
