    Drunk business owners

    Hi
Are there any sober business owners in the house ?
Once you stopped drinking how did it effect your company ? more stress ? less stress ? fitter ? clearer ?
I guess i use the booze to relieve stress but then feel so tired well broken if i am honest

With April 1 coming up i thought i may do a while booze free

EVERYTHING got better when I quit.

Had I known the difference, I would have probably quit...llllllllllong before I did. I remembered things better, more organized, more motivated, and I wasnt buzzed until 10am waiting to be safe to drive.

I hope to never go back

I completely fell apart I'm sorry to say- went into a complete fog and just couldn't pull it together.

I should have just taken time off.. Oh well, it's only money, right! :H

I'm much better now and going slowly. Thanks for bringing this up TTIN. Really the first time I've confronted it..:h

I drank at home and as a business owner, drank at work too.
I've been sober for 80 days now and business is the same, but I don't have the same drive and energy to run it anymore.. I am having a hard time finding joy in the things I do, I guess being drunk all the time allowed me to live with a blind fold.. That is just my experience, I guess being sober is allowing me to realize just how fed up I was of running my business and now I am ready to move on to new ventures..
Being sober sucks right now.. Feeling really down, almost 3 months sober..

I have run my business for 30 years and love it even when the recession means I struggle.

Being hung over made me think I didn't enjoy it, quitting made me very tired for the first four months and I struggled to keep going.

NOW.......it is fecking awesome....I love my job, my business is improving and I feel so lucky not to have lost it due to drinking.

Supermario ......hang in there.....it gets better. Take plenty of supplements etc, rest, eat well and get grateful for saving your life........just knowing you are not going to end up a homeless bum on a park bench is enough reason to be grateful IMO.

Well, I can function, now. I come up with ideas for being more efficient. I'm not sick all the time. Mind you, I was only sober for 34 days, fell a couple of days, now sober for 7 days.

It seems like I am completing projects more quickly with less frustration.

I was afraid my hubby (partner) was going to fire me because I was so far behind with projects...but we made it through with his enormous patience.

It's all just better being sober. Like I went to town to complete some projects and I wasn't rushing to get home to start dinner so I could start boozin', and I knew I didn't stink from boozin' the night before.

              It's just all better, now.

Hi time is now and :welcome: I am a former drunk business owner and ex-drunk-corporate-executive. And now a sober business partner and college student. Quitting drinking was difficult but not half as difficult as the problems related to my drinking were getting to be. Quitting was the best thing I ever did and I get more done before 9AM these days than I was getting done in a week around April of 2008.

                Good luck.

I am not a business owner but I can totally relate to this statement. I can get more done in my lunch HOUR than I used to get done all week when I was hungover!!!

Super - what is getting you down? Remember what it is like to wake up after a binge with a raging hangover, vague or no recollections of what you did and horrible disappointment, depression and disgust at yourself?
10/14/13: I am truly grateful for another day in this amazing life. I'm sober and mindful of every moment.

Wow! Time for someone to get off the pity train.

You are sober, you have a new lease on life, and you own your own business yet being sober sucks?

Time to start listing things you are grateful for. Look on the bright side, at least your aren't drunk and jobless and homeless. Believe it or not you get to control how you feel.

                          One right here!

Well I haven't been one for almost 3 weeks. 18 days AF to be exact.

Like others have been saying, the productivity is just unbelievable! It's fantastic! Night and Day. I have never been so productive in my life.

And the best thing is: All the "stresses" and "problems" that I thought I had that were so insurmountable when I was drinking while working, were all in my drunken head. They were just excuses in my alcoholic head that I made up so I could drink some more.

Now sober, I am realizing that the "stresses" and "problems" were just molehills I made mountains out of so I could have an excuse to drink myself into a stupor yet again.

                          Ahh, the clarity is wonderful

                          Thanks!
