    MWO sponsors

    hi MWO's

I am a new member and quite frankly have been a bit overwhelmed with sorting out all the threads and members out ...especially on the newbies nest.......i would love a sponsor to help me find success.......i think it is a great idea.......i have had a few members welcome me...but after that... i kinda get lost in the days and threads.....please include me to have a senior sponsor....it would be more than helpful............
You've been CRITICISING yourself for years and it hasn't worked. Try APPROVING of yourself and see what happens......

Maybe the newbies nest should be organized and categorized? I am sure it is the most visited....newbies need MWO more than anyone! It would be great to have "permanent" threads that dont get lost by more recent threads....like the forum etiquette thread that never moves.....
So, subcategories that come to mind:
      1. Your Story
      2. Questions relating to your quit (this could be further organized: meds; emotions; physical symptoms, etc.
      3. What to expect/what you are experiencing in first 7 days/30 days/3 months, etc. (separate threads for each)
      3. Looking for a sponsor? Looking for a sponsee?
      4. Quotes, inspiration, funny experiences
      5. HELP

      etc.
      I just won't anymore

I didn't see any slappin' or sluggin'.

It WAS a good idea Caper, and I think people are just brainstorming right now. We won't come to a unanimous decision overnight (if ever), but you've brought up a great idea and now we can hammer out the details. Those that want to be involved can, and those that don't can move on.

Well, I guess you weren't on the receiving end, K9. But I do appreciate your response. Maybe it was a good idea.. or maybe it wasn't. In either case, I'm leaving it alone. For those of you who administer this site, please do what you think is best.

I liked the thread a lot and in the very least, it has made me aware of the fact that I CAN give back more...I am newly sober, but each day I feel stronger and more able to give back. You were successful in bringing this to my attention. So, I am going to try to give back more and more each day and help newcomers....It is NOT a give and take....rather it helps ME with my sobriety each time I give advice and that advice is taken.
I have a sponsor with AA and she rephrases some of my thoughts and makes me see things from different angles. I am going to try to do that in NN.
              Thanks Caper!!

Oh my!! I had to chuckle at this... Bear with me:
Very early in my sobriety, I was "attacked" by a senior member in AA. I was devastated to say the least.... So, I chatted to a lady in the fellowship with reasonable sobriety. I said to her that it is wrong, and that it is a spiritual programme, and NOT the place for something like that....
Her response? "We are a bunch of addicts gathered I one room. I am surprised we don't have stabbings from time to time!"
That put everything into perspective for me.... We are human after all, and just an average slice of society, warts and all!!
So... I think the sponsor idea is great, I just saw now that Columbia commented on a post of mine more than a month ago!
                Be loved!

It wouldnt be hard, or take but a few seconds to sticky "need a sponsor/sponsee" thread, or any of those threads for that matter.

Thats a good idea, let the people looking for sponsors choose from a list of people willing to spnosor....I like it
