I'm a regular drinker. I drink nearly every night, at home. (6 units usually, sometimes more but never over 8 units. Still bad I know) I want to cut down the amount of units I drink in a night and have more drink free nights. There's chilled wine in the fridge and it's just gone half past ten in the evening, where I live. Way past my drinking time ! I'm fighting the urge and trying really hard not to open that fridge right now.

Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone
Welcome WiW!!! You have landed yourself in the best possible spot if you are ready to get this monkey off your back. You sound like most of us, AL has just somehow taken over and if it hasn't caused major problems, they are on the horizon. If you look around the site for any length of time, it is recommended to begin this journey by going AF for 30 days. I know that sounds impossible....but it makes a great deal of sense. This will give you the time and distance needed to really see what's going between you and AL. I hope you will join us over in the Newbie's Nest....link is below in my signature line...also, visit the Tool Box...it's a treasure-trove of information and tips on how to get started. We are so glad you found us! Welcome aboard! Byrdie

Hello Everyone
Thank you
Thank you for your support and very rapid response. 30 days does sound impossible right now. In the very few minutes before your response, I burst into tears and I'm ashamed to say, I had a glass of wine but with lots of lemonade but I feel supported now. This is the first time I've admitted my problem. It took me two hours to post. I feel like a huge weight has just lifted. I will check out the newbie nest. Thanks again.

Hello Everyone
Yes, it is a sad day when you come to realize what has happened. I could relate to most ALL the stories I read on here that first night I joined. I couldn't believe that it had gotten so out of control....but here's the good news!! This is totally do-able. It's the FEAR of it all that keeps us paralyzed. When you finally decide to change course, it's not so bad as you'd think!!! That Tool Box is invaluable, and so is the Newbie's nest. That's what got me turned around, reading and posting. I was messing around on the site earlier today and saw that you were our newest member...I have been looking for your post! I'm so glad you've joined us! We do amazing things around here! This place saves lives.....and I'm one of them!! Byrdie
Edit: When you get over to the NN read back a week or so and get to know us!

Hello Everyone
WW, recently, I too thought 30 days was impossible, but after coming to the MWO, I found the support and understanding from individuals who have battled with AL themselves and have succeded. Please come and join us on The April thread, we are all there trying to get through April alcohol free! I never thought I could do it but I have and feel so much better, wishing you well
:welcome:On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

Hello Everyone
Nonsense, May! You will get it.....I believe something so strongly that I put it in my byline...all you gotta do, is get thru this day. When you break it down into increments...there's prolly 3 hours of the day that are your peak times, right? Those are the hours to concentrate on...you really can do anything for 3 hours if you put your mind to it, and make a PLAN for it. Surround yourself with things you love to do and EAT....GET ALL THE BOOZE out of your house. This is KEY. You don't need a safety net, because you are not going to fail. It takes a PLAN. You can do this! Byrdie

Hello Everyone
Welcome!!
Please eat lots of nutritious foods, get plenty of sleep and drink lots of water!!!! Sounds simple but doing this REALLY helps.
If you give yourself 30 days, you will begin to see things in a different (sober) light. Welcome to the journey....it isn't the easiest thing in the world....but the BEST things in life are worth working for....don't you think??I just won't anymore
