Always wondered about Madmans' pic. Why did I think it was him?!
Anyways, spent more time on MWO tonight than I have in a very long time. Suffice to say tonight was difficult so read, read, read and posted. Thanks to all for chatting. I think I can sleep now. Nighty :l

              7 MONTHS OF SOBRIETY BLOWN

Hey All, just stopping by quickly - no time today. Will get back to it asap. Day 17 for me!

SL - I definitely think we have to do this in our own time - only you know when/if you're ready. Sorry you're going through some hard times, but hopefully you're keeping things tame even if you're still drinking?? Anyway, let us know if we can help. I'm sure no expert but we are here to listen.:l

Will post when I can - getting very busy right now because I have two trips coming up soon -- lots to do.

              NS - that's hilarious - yes I'm sure K9 is K9.:H

              Take care everyone.

              xx,
              UN:l

A few days of the grog, and I am feeling good. Even have been working out. Planning my weekend coming up, plan is to stuff it with nice home cooking and a good read. Thinking the exercise will help deal with the anxiety side of things. How is eveyone else doing?

                  Take care

                    7 MONTHS OF SOBRIETY BLOWN

Hi all, brutal trip from Japan -- got absolutely no sleep (no business class available so I was squeezed in the middle between two, surprisingly large, men. Poor, pitiful me! Now in Paris airport lounge, my third "apartment" after the real one, the consulting gig site, and my transit lounge. It's getting easier to hang out AF -- almost becoming a habit.

Good luck on the trips UN. Look forward to hearing how you are doing. And, thanks for helping me figure out the avatar, who's photo is real (thank goodness K9 is real!) and have a little discussion beyond alcohol. Will be in limited email next couple of days.

Dear K9 -- glad you are "for real". I, too, am sorry about the job not working out as you had hoped.

After another 5 hour flight, and 2 hours transit to hotel, I am back in second "apartment." Dumped the complimentary wine, ordered room service for dinner, will work for two hours and my "reward" -- a massage is booked for late tonight to help me sleep. Happy to report another AF day for me.

                            7 MONTHS OF SOBRIETY BLOWN

Evening all Well today was effortless on the abstinence front which I'm very grateful for. I know not to take it for granted as things can flip in an instant, but lovely while it's like this.

Hi Marhall, you're sounding good. Exercise has been a big part of my plan. I train up to 4 evenings a week in witching hour (since Jan) and a yoga class on the weekends. Really beginning to see the changes now and keeps those endorphins flowing. Your weekend plan sounds great too - cooking and reading - peachy!

Free, you really are on the road aren't you. Well done for resisting in all places on all counts. The hiking sounds such a lovely idea. Off to check out Kripalu - I can dream!

K9 - sorry about the job but sure you'll find something you love soon.

SL- hope today has been kind to you. Big hug :l

Hi to UN, Alls, NoSugar and all else dropping by :l

                              7 MONTHS OF SOBRIETY BLOWN

                              Tuesday, June 4

Hey guys, everyone here is sounding good.

Just wanted to share an excerpt from the book I'm reading - title is Unchain Your Brain

When the pre frontal cortex works well, it helps you say no to cocaine, marijuana, or chocolate pie. Low activity in the PFC is linked to a lack of clear goals, procrastination, a short attention span, bad judgment, impulsivity, and not learning from the mistakes you make, which makes you more likely to drink, smoke or overeat. Alcohol lowers activity in the PFC, which is why people do such stupid things when they get drunk.

Sorry, I'm on my ipad and am having a hard time italicizing the above paragraph but.......can anyone relate?

Here's to strengthening our PFC and keeping it healthy........

Sounds like some of us are keeping our bodies in shape too! I need to get busy.

FF, I'm not struggling right now either -- makes life a lot simpler when we're not waging war in our minds!

FAL, your travels sound pretty stressful. Huge kudos for not caving after all that. You passed a big test with flying colors! I think a massage is a super gift to bestow upon oneself! I did the same a couple of weeks ago. So relaxing - loved it!

K9 I like your pic very much.!! Sorry about the job. Hope it wasn't too big a disappointment. Was it something you wanted badly?

MARHALL, so glad you're staying strong, bud. Sounds like you have a good plan. Keep us posted. Cooking, exercise, and reading are a huge part of how I now spend my spare time. Beats being slumped over in a chair fading out in front of the tube!

                              SL hope all is well.

                              HI NS! How goes it?

Well, I'm getting excited about my mountain cabin excursion! We plan on hiking, biking, rafting and doing some scenic drives. This part of Colorado is in the San Juan Mountains - very beautiful.

Have a nice evening everyone. :l:l:l

Hi, hanging in and doing ok - busy times just now - had a really hard time driving home, but did it - then found a reason to go back out, but again managed to not go shopping - loud voices calling me...got to work on my PFC obviously!!!
So happy for all doing so well, it really is comforting to see people succeeding - keep going FF, UN, et al.
