Somehow today I have to make it day one AF

    rednose;1511914 wrote: HI ALL,
I appreciate all of your support. Yes those are my dogs in the photo.
I am heading in to the witching hour for me and I am going to hang on tight to everything I know about my drinking. It has never gotten better, it only continues to get worse.
    I want off this ride...

    rednose.
    Hey Red,

Checking in to say Hi and that I'm thinking about you. Beautiful dogs!! You can get off of this miserable ride. I know that you sincerely want to. So many here are cheering for you. Listen to the wisdom of kuya. She knows so very much about our physiology and what makes us tick and what breaks us down. You need cheerleaders, true, but you also need good, solid medical information.

Hugs to you, Red, lots of hugs!! :groupluv:

Would someone mind explaining what an accountability thread is exactly?

          Hi Rednose

Nice to see you, you're well through today, not long and you'll have the first and worst day out of the way. Love the doggies, I have a golden lab called Charlie. Keep a non-alcoholic drink in your hand ALL the time, doesn't matter what it is just keep on drinking it. Do something nice for you too, might be something as simple as a long relaxing bath - with drink in hand. You will soon find alternative feel-good things.

          Cheering you on

Hi Red! By Accountability thread I meant a thread that you start just for yourself, where you can come and record your thoughts and struggles. It's where you come and be accountable to yourself. A lot of people find that if they have their own thread it really helps them.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

                Hi Rednose,

                Rednose no more,

Keep your mind distracted during these first few days. Watch some inspiring dvd's, inspiring biographies, stories. Make a list of distractions and inspirations that are positive to you and find them on the internet. Read inspiration, from this site and elsewhere.

Keep it going and don't turn back. Persistence and dogged determination is the key right now. Try to keep yourself emotionally stable too. Remove yourself from potentially upsetting environments or people. Be ruthless, and take back your life one minute, one hour and one day at a time.

                Go for it!

'I am part of all that I have met, yet all experience is an arch wherethro', gleams that untravelled world whose margins fade, forever and forever when I move'

                  Hey Rednose,

I second all of Mr. G's exceptionally excellent advice and also add some physical activity. Walking, running, hiking, whatever. It not only makes us feel great but is also an excellent time killer which is equally valuable at this time in your quit.
2023 - focus, getting it done, and living the way it should be and being the person I need to be.

Thanks to you all today.. It has been a rough day but I ate some good pizza and now I feel like crawling into bed with my doggies and watching some mindless tv.

It is a hard habit to quit but it can be done.

                      Thanks to you all

The hardest thing about giving something up for me is you still think about it.although you are no longer drinking it does not just simply go away. If you can accept that you are going to think about it but that does not mean you have to do it that can kind of reduces the pressure if that makes sense.
Urge surfing in toolbox probably explains this better.
Its easier not to start than stop
