    June free from AL

Hi all, a quick check-in to report June remains AF for me. Two more days of meetings and then I am back home. Hurray! Look forward to reading about everyone's progress.

Oh yeah, I, too, am enjoying my new MWO friends. Thanks, all.

Hey everyone! Reading all of these positive posts really puts a smile on my face.....:thanks:

livelovelearn: you are correct in saying scotch is your OLD friend. As in, NO LONGER your friend.....scotch is the enemy! I too THINK I am feeling slimmer but my scale begs to differ....don't get it. But I am way too early in sobriety to go on any kind of diet. So, in the meantime, I am simply eating mindfully....and I stopped eating ice cream at night...that might help, don't you think? :H
          I just won't anymore

But if I cut the icecream, I can still eat the chocolate cake, right? Please don't tell me that has to go as well.

I stocked up on my Cascade Ice -----so refreshing, a week ago. So glad to have it when it has been getting hot outside. Hubby tasted it and liked it.

This is just me, but, if there is chocolate cake...there must be icecream. the calories outweigh each other...so you have to have both. LOL, right?

                      Hi Guys

Sorry I haven't posted much. I have been feeling rough with a chest infection but day 39 for me and a week in to AF June :-)

I have been reading about the friends situation and definitely think it's not worth trying to grasp on to friends that are pulling away... They are probably just not liking the fact that they are having to think about their own drinking habits....

I didn't really have any drinking buddies (except one but we had a lot of other stuff in common as have been friends for 24 years since age 17!). I have a different awkward friend situation which is playing on my mind though... I met another friend at work when I was 24 (I'm now 41). I went on to have a career, get married, have two kids, emigrate.... She only left that original job two years ago, never got married or had kids and still lives alone. This is fine but she recently came to stay with me for the weekend and I also felt we no longer had anything in common... What's worse is that I was still drinking then and whilst I didn't go wild, I did drink a lot when she was here (she drank too but not as much). When she went home I felt bad... As if she may have disapproved with me drinking.... I almost emailed a few times to say I have been AF but truthfully, I think the thing that hurts is that I realise now that we are just on such completely different pages in our lives and that we are no longer compatible... I think if I saw her sober, it would even be worse! She has become quite bitter... It's sad but I agree that friends do come and go for a reason x

Just wanted to say good morning everyone. Nice to wake up on a Saturday without a hangover! I have a busy day today so my mind will be occupied. Oh and I've been eating chewy sprees for the past 9 days. I might have to go to a12 step program for my spree issue...lol!

kambob and last straw: thank you SO MUCH for the belly laugh first thing this morning.....I love coming on to MWO in the morning....

And as for "lollies" I assume you mean lollipops? What a fantastic idea!!! I am going to buy a bag today...I will have a lollipop at night instead of my ice cream/cookies/cereal or whatever fattening sweet thing I have in the house.....maybe that will help with my weight.

If it doesn't, so be it. I am not going to obsess about it. I am too busy feeling wonderfully AF and NOT hungover. That is enough for me right now
