Shout out to the 311 Gang (and those who joined later)

Been thinking about the power of the buddy system and wanted to send greetings to the 311 gang and to see how you are doing.

From the posts, the gang consisted of Siren (thanks for starting it), Fin, Halo, I Can Without a Can, Hallway, I'm Strong and In Control, Had it, I'm on My Way, All in, and My Life. Did I miss anyone? A quick note to let you know that I am thinking of you and sending you cyber hugs to stay strong in this battle.

As for me, I finally hit my 30 days in early May, had a short-lived attempt at moderation and quickly saw how the beast would gain control, so returned to the AF life. Still taking it ODAT and gaining strength from the MWO community.

    Warmest,
    Free

Free! So nice to hear you are doing welll! Halfway content was with us the entire time as well, but haven't seen her in awhile, if you check in halfway, know that we are sending you :l!

Free, I have a special place in my heart for the 311 gang thread, that was my quit day and even though it has been tremendously difficult on some days , I have not had nary a sip of alcohol since. And it is totally because of the MWO, the monthly threads and Newbie's nest in particular. I have NEVER EVER gone this long before (besides when I was pregnant) and as many have stated on this site, I am honestly now trying to protect my quit, I don't want to give it up, even though at times I struggle, I have yet to fall ...

Here's hoping members of the 311 gang are doing well, hope to see you on the June post!! Take care Free, proud of you, hope you get a break from all your travelling days!
    :l
On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

Hello, halo and free! I am doing well. I also have a special place in my heart for the 311 Gang. That 30 day AF was quite a trip. I did have a glass of wine at two weddings recently, and I have a wedding tonight and will probably toast the couple. It is so hard when waiters are pressing a champagne glass in your hand. However, I was ok with just one glass. I don't want to go back to the out of control affair with vodka.
I like myself sober! Pellegrino is still my drink of choice; I literally carry a large bottle of it around the house. Thanks for asking about me.

Dear Halfway, so good to hear from you and that you are doing well. I don't know why my computer changes your name to Hallway--my apologies. Glad that you don't want the "out of control affair with vodka" anymore.

Halo, I agree, with the importance of supporting one another. From what I can tell, many of the original group are staying with AF life. Will be keen to see how we are all doing on 9/11!

Also, I think Pretty Tulip also joined the 311 gang, and I may have missed her.

Let us know how you all are doing!

No worries, free. I didn't even notice the change in my name. Even though I am committed to the AF life,
I, too, have those tempting images of me with a cocktail glass on the patio. I just have to tell myself over and over "You don't want to go back. Danger ahead if you drink." I mentally picture a vodka bottle with that black poison sign. It actually helps.

          Stay strong, Gang.
