    Words do Empower

Hello Everyone, Its Sat 5.30pm in OZ and a cold day. Last night I went to a family and friends get together at a local restaurant. All the adults were normal drinkers and the kids drank their cokes. I had been craving a drink from very early in the day. I just new I was going to blow it almost 38 days af!
My wife and another adult purchased a bottle of wine. I was of course asked did I want some. Want some, normally I would have downed a bottle before leaving home and and would be ready for another,at least!!!
I simply said ""no,I don't drink anymore."" One of the adults asked me if I felt any better. My reply was no as I had been suffering a chest infection from the day I quit! That was the end of it no one really caredBUT I did feel soooo empowered.

Yes, a Huge change free at last. Same thing tonight,I have just been out to a friends for dinner with a few other people.Again, I had to say I no longer drink. Amazingly,no one really cared. I think we alkies have this distorted idea that people will some how think we are weird if we don't drink. And yes it does get easier. Catch you all tomorrow

I am new to MWO and to using chat rooms. I posted a new thread almost an hour ago but have not gotten any replies. Not sure how the process works to connect with others and ask some basic questions like which Rx meds people have used (topamax, baclofen, naltrexone etc), how many do just the supplements, if the Kudzu really helps, do the CDs help and then just mainly want to connect with others. Have been looking at MWO info for the past week online. Ordered the book. Have been drinking more than I want every night this week even though swearing not to every morning. Have past experience with abstinence, AA, etc, but don't like AA as an ongoing alternative (not a good fit for me). Feeling scared, confused, anxious and really want to connect with others. -- Sorry if I'm off topic on this thread.

The forum doesn't work that quickly, it relies on people logging in to respond. Most people bob in and out perhaps once a week, once a day, once an hour then they'll respond to the threads which appeal to them, or they feel they can contribute to. Please be patient, everyone is in the same boat and everyone gives their time and input for free.

There was a thread yesterday asking about meds, I posted myself on that one. Loads of info on here if you start looking around.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

The meds section would be good place to start finding some answers.

Allen Carr’s book changed everything for me. The easyway to control alcohol. Highly recommended
