How long did it take to start noticing the physical changes from being AF? I am talking weight loss, bloating, skin, etc....... It will be Day 20 for me tomorrow. I have noticed that my skin looks better and I am less bloated in the face but wondering when does the darn weight start dropping off?

Physical Changes From Being AF
Thanks for sharing SS.....I have high blood pressure and looking forward to seeing it go down. I think my diet is starting to normalize a bit. In the beginning I was pretty much eating whatever I wanted. This week, I feel good enough to start watching what I'm eating.Miley

Physical Changes From Being AF
Hi Miley
I put on a few pounds in the first month (I was eating for England to deal with cravings!!) now after 2 1/2 months I have lost about 16 pounds altogether. Skin and hair look better and no more puffy eyes!!Never put off to tomorrow what you can achieve today!

Really good things start happening in the second month. That's when I noticed my face looked thinner, my skin clearer and the weight starting to drop. My hairdresser wants to know what I've done to make my hair fuller and thicker. This is a secret even Miss Clairol doesn't have!! I taste food more robustly and am more aware of my senses in general. I am off of 3 BP meds! All of these things begin to happen after about 4 weeks...you are doing great!! Byrdie

Way to go on day 19! :wd:
I think the weight is a tricky one. Age and metabolism have so much to do with it, from what I've noticed. Personally, I didn't worry about any of it the first 6 weeks or so re: diet and weight. Though I noticed many other changes almost immediately: lack of water retention, clearer/fresher complexion; Cleansed feeling overall. I think our bodies will naturally gravitate toward healthier foods and activities as we keep alcohol out of our systems. If you can start off taking nice walks and get your blood flowing its a good jumping off place. My dad lost 60 lbs. just walking every day & he worked up to 5 miles per day. Our bodies are amazing and organically programmed to heal themselves.
All the best on your journey! P."People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone."

Physical Changes From Being AF
Hi Miley!
Unfortunately weight doesn't just drop off. It's true you might drop some water weight in the beginning, but for real weight loss the secret is simple...burn more calories than you eat. Weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. It's gonna take work, but like all good things, it will be worth it. Get moving and you'll start seeing a difference:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

I'm taking pictures each week in the mirror, I hate what I'm seeing but hopefully it keeps me motivated! I've been told my skin looks great (I can't tell?!?!)
I ate heaps the first few weeks and now being more conscious, drinking heaps of water too, I'm a month in (except for one day where I messed up!) and I enjoy not drinking and look forward to more changes to comne, I'm figuring weight has to change soon!!
I don't feel stressed, I can think about things before reacting and I'm not feeling so emotional, I still have my monets though!

I have noticed my workouts are better and I am able to run further. I take a body pump class 3 days a week and I have been able to increase my weights. I guess everything takes time.
I do feel sharper and my memory is starting to get better, as well. Things should keep getting better and better with time. I do notice my BP still isn't where it needs to be but I am hoping that it lowers in time. I am under a tremendous amount of stress right now at work so I'm sure that isn't helping but exercising does help with stress.Miley

And I don't snore any more! (there's a poem in there somewhere!)
There once was a Byrd from the beach
Whose power from booze she did leach.
But she drinks it no more
Hell, she don't even snore!
So now anything's well within reach!
Thank you. Exiting now...... before the hook comes out!
