Hey there Hadit.....I just wanted to say that 45 days is awesome (I can only hope to get there) and don't get discouraged.....keep on going! You are an inspiration...especially for posting about it.

It's a process, it's a process, it's a process....change takes time. Look at the 45 days that you did and be proud of your accomplishment.

    Hugs,

Any idea what happened? You sorta had to plan to go off AB right? No judgements here, I did the same thing a few times. Maybe this little setback will now reinforce your resolve. We're here for you!

Hadit ~ Remember .... In those 45 days a lot of healing took place, physically, mentally and emotionally. Get RIGHT back on the wagon - and you can quickly repair the damage. At this point it's very "psychological" ... so don't let THAT spin you out of control. Use this as a spring board to be even stronger than before in your determination.

Drink lots of water - stay here and read and post - and in a short time you will be OUR biggest Cheerleader to staying the course. YOU CAN DO IT!

Put your hands over your heart - and tell yourself that you are going to guard this essence of who you are with everything. Alcohol opens us up to darkness and depression instantly. You choose love today. Guard it by keeping the poison out of your body. It IS poison.

          Hi Hadit,

So glad you came back and shared what's goin' on. Such a smarmy seducer that alcohol m*effer. I think we all fantasize about it, romanticize, wonder what one more time will be like. It NEVER delivers on its promises. I do hope you don't beat yourself up over it. Coming back here and getting the support you need is crucial and now you can dust off and carry on with the knowledge you have. We are here for you. Next time you feel tempted perhaps you can come here and share first and we will talk you off the ledge!!!

If there is something deeper goin' on that you want to unload, PM anytime...

          All the best, P.

Hadit, i've done that many, many times. As the other Nesters say, just get back on the horse. Get on here as often as possible. Also, plan to buy yourself something nice with the money that would otherwise go on Al.
                    Best wishes to you,

I think K9 hits the nail on the head - a set back has a tendency strengthen our resolve.

I think it's kinda like...when we use AL and stop, each time we stop we feel a strengthened sickness which makes our resolve to stop stronger.

In my experience these slips have made me stronger. I once got up to 30days and slipped. The 2nd longest try got up 57 days. This so far is my longest quit. 134 days. That lil whisper of trying alc again no longer works. Its kinda like the fool me once...proverb scenario. That said, i think these stumbles may actually be necessary for successful recovery as you do realize there is NOTHING to go back to but regret, misery andturmoil.

                              Hey Hadit,

I slipped too at 58 days. Last Saturday I went to a wedding with the best AF intentions, but I ended up with a glass of wine in my hand. Though I didn't have much, I felt that pull that AL has for us Alkies. It would have been so easy just to give in totally, which is what I have done in the past when I've slipped. But I kept reminding myself of where I was when stopped this last time, the call to re-hab, my son trying to console a broken me, the lies, the excuses, the destructive path AL always leads me down.

I was able to stop, and when I got home I logged into this site and just read the feeds of all these wonderful people who struggle with the same damned thing I do. I didn't drink yesterday or today, and I know my 58 days was not a wasted effort. Neither was your 45 days. Beat yourself up a little (all of us alkies love to do that!), but don't let AL win. Get right back to AF and do what ever you have to do to stay there.
                              AF again since 3/13/2014
