Trying To Get Back On Track

Hey guys....well, I'm sorry to report that things have been rocky for me and I am back to Day 1 again today. I have been having one hell of a time with this for the past couple of weeks. I decided that I need extra support so I am joining a recovery group at a local church that meets every week. I also informed my group of friends that I play cards with that I won't be drinking and that I have made a decision that AL doesn't work for me and I feel better without it. It wasn't a big deal....it seems that I've been the one making a big deal out of it!

Moss - I know what you mean about AL making anxiety even worse. I find it odd that the one thing I use to relax actually causes the very thing I'm trying to escaped.

I'm going to continue to move forward because I surely don't intend to ride this roller coaster for the rest of my life. Life is such a precious gift!

Miley - glad to hear you are reaching out to people in real life and getting additional support. Every little bit helps, right. And I agree - sometimes I think we make "not drinking" a much bigger deal than it needs to be. 3June posted about that a while back, and I found it inspiring. Hang in there. I hope your anxiety/worry subsides soon and you find some peace. Hang in there. And let us know how things are going.

And the very fact that you are here and starting over again is a sign of true resolve. xo

Trying To Get Back On Track

Hi Miley hows it going ... how was the support group
I found concentrating on loosing weight took over my priorities to thinking about drinking
I was to busy concentrating on different diets to do e.g. Juicing.....had to have dinner at night could come at juices for dinner 2 ( the sick, fat and dying diet )
never was any good at counting calories
I'm now trying the cinnamon and honey and with a juice
at least I'm not drinking or stressing out about it ........but have to be careful because I can also very easily slip back
but to-day I'm not drinking and feel good

            Hey, Miley

How are you doing? I'm thinking of you and hoping your digging up and using the strength you had when you achieved your month of sobriety.

Miley, so glad you are doing well. Anxiety is a bummer, but you seem to be finding healthy and healing ways to deal with it. Way to go! I think I'll join you and Witts on your journey towards healthy living. I could definitely move a little bit more, if you know what I mean. I have been trying to do the 5 Tibetans every morning. They really work, but I need to stay motivated. Just in case, you are interested, here's a link.. The Five Tibetans with Medicine Hunter Chris Kilham | The Dr. Oz Show . They are supposed to help with anxiety.

Moss...I checked out the video....very interesting. Have you noticed any difference in the way you feel? I've been starting my mornings off with warm lemon water which is supposed to be good for you. I plan on running tomorrow morning.

Trying To Get Back On Track

Hi Miley, good to hear you're back on track and working on your plan for success. I found the more people I told the more accountable I felt. Mostly no one seems to care if I drink or I don't. The odd person said "like forever?" or"but you aren't alcoholic". They didn't know about all the drinking I did alone at night. They didn't know how I felt when I woke up after yet another night of drinking and how no matter what I said to myself I still found myself buying more and drinking when I really didn't want to. Anyway I digress. I know you can do this, and I know how good you're going to feel once you get your first week behind you. So stick with us, keep posting and keep reading! We;re with you all the way!

Thanks June! I plan on posting a lot. It helped me through my 30 days. I get what you mean about people telling you that you aren't an alcoholic. My Husband still tells me this but I know better. He had no idea how much I was drinking the feelings the next day are the worst and drinking when you don't want to is exhausting!

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Moss and Sobersoul, how's it going? I went to the gym at 5:30 this morning. Would not have been possible with a hangover! My goal is to lose 20 pounds by my birthdate, which is in October. I'm going to start tracking my calories and exercise.

Hope everyone is doing well....have a great AF Monday!

Wow Miley you rock, I only get up that early if I have to work the day shift. It's brutal getting up at 330 am. But you voluntarily hit the gym. I am betting you will lose the weight you want in no time with that determination! :goodjob:
