    7 Days Sober Challenge..

    7 Days AF

Hi David, I am going to join you for the challenge if that's okay? You have got a day's start on me but I will go for six to start. Like you I have been drinking at least a couple of bottles of wine a day for a long time now and going at it hammer and tongs at weekends basically drinking anything and as much as I could get my hands on. I have been drinking really heavily since I was a teenager and I have tried in the past to give up (controlling my intake isn't really an option for me I don't think) and have managed at the most 32 days a number of years ago when I was on this forum previously. I have tried AA but it's not really for me I don't think: I have tried lots of groups but I have found a number of the members to be a bit lax in respecting anonymity and very dismissive of my problems with alcohol. Not to worry, it is 2210 here and I haven't had a drink today so I am going to go to bed soon and get ready for a new day and hopefully continue with a new life.

        7 Days Sober Challenge..

        Hello all..

7:30pm here and Day 2 well on the way to completion.

Took a Valium this afternoon as I was feeling rather anxious but am off to Yoga at 8pm for an hour and a half, so that eats up a good bit of what could be drinking time!

        Feeling positive and strong...

        How's everyone else doing?

Hi David good job on day 2, you are on a roll. The sleep issues, the anxiety will wear off and the feeling of waking up rested and clear headed beats anything else IMHO! Keep at it!

                  7 Days Sober Challenge..

Hello Folks, It seems as if a number of us have got positive things to do or done already. I went for a sauna (I know, it's a heat wave but alkies do silly things!) and did some stretching exercises in the warmth. I'm hoping that this will have helped me eradicate some toxins. Tomorrow evening the plan is to go a walk, but in the opposite direction of the bars round my way! Good luck everyone.

                      7 Days Sober Challenge..

Ok, me too, I'm in...another wino saving money. I am closing down Day 2, consecutive. I have been putting my daily imbibes on the Drink tracker here so I can see it. I can go 1-2 days, then I do wine a couple, then 1-2 days, etc. Would like to string more together as I have done 100 days, and 2 months a few times in last couple years. When I do, I feel so great...mentally alert, confidence and drive back...goals, activity, consistent yoga and walking....and the blessed good night's sleep - so many reasons. Let's go!

Hiddengoal, I have never managed anywhere near 100 days but I absolutely concur about feeling great even when I have only managed a couple of weeks AF. Once the booze leaves my system I begin to feel fantastic and that's the danger point - I want to hit the bars and show all my pals how wonderfully I am doing and then the next thing I am a drunken mess again riddled with guilt, shame and remorse. I need to stop doing that to my spirit. I need to foster all the good things and eradicate the bad. Day 3 AF starts for me now.

                          7 Days Sober Challenge..

Day 2, spent it in bed, I'm going to try to do more each day and get my head out of this dark space.
I'm not wanting a drink, I just want hese damn voices in my head to stop telling me I'm a failure, I'm going to be single the rest of my life and my poor parents are stuck with a nut case....... Self perpetuating hatred, I f*ing hate it because I don't know where the switch is to turn it off?!?
Anyone have any idea I'm watching a How I Met Your Mother marathon to cheer myself up and even made up one of those picture boards where you cut pictures out of what you want...... I'll try anything to get my brain to switch back to that happy place again!!!!!

Hi- I don't know anyone on this thread, but I need to do this. I just did 5 days of no alcohol and decided to have a few with my husband the other night- I really need to stop altogether. He won't quit so I need some support.
                            It's always YOUR choice!
