for those who have loved and lost a dog

Free, the poems are beautiful! I am also a dog lover. My boy Brody is a Jack (Parson) Russell terrier that we rescued from a shelter when he was only six weeks old (he's now seven years old). I truly love him with all of my heart and I have since day one. I also had two kitties that I had adopted in college but they have since passed away from old age.

Brody has gotten me through some tough times. Sometimes he gets scared when I cry and sometimes he give me too much attention because he knows that I'm sad and need love. They have bigger hearts than people.

Thank you for the poems! :l
Would you like you, if you met you?

Glad to see the dog-lovers on this thread. When our last dog died (after battling cancer and hip problems), I felt as though a hole had been ripped in my heart. I was a mess. And really missed having another being around who helped bring out my positive side. I was on those adoption websites for hours every night. Within four weeks, we had rescued another dog and he is the joy of our lives.

Oh yeah, my DH tells me that dogs are chick magnets. Seems no one can resist approaching an aging guy with a cute dog

I haven't decided who I miss the most after taking this job out of town, my husband or my dog. :-)

for those who have loved and lost a dog

Glad to see this thread bumped up. Didn't see it before. We lost our Dolce belle ami a few months ago. She was a Newfoundland who lived to the ripe old age of 14. What a wonderful sweet and gentle breed. We miss her dearly. We also have a golden/collie mix that is a sweet dog as well. The five cats are all rescue cats. The whole brood get along well. It helps to snip the male cats when they are young. Glad to see animal lover's on MWO.

Oh, Ican, I am so sorry for you. I can only begin to imagine how this saddens you. You are in my thoughts.

Ican - I am SO sorry for what you must be going through - I just cannot imagine how you feel. Having lost dogs to cancer and other things - it really is SO soul destroying to lose a pet ..... have you considered getting another yet - or is it too soon? Getting our rescues after the loss of yet another dog really helped me. We now have three dogs - two rescues - from a puppy mill - we have the mum and one of her pups - she was only a year old and had already had one litter. So to see her come out of herself and find out what it is to be loved is just so wonderful. It took three weeks before she would come up to me. But it is really wonderful to see her grow ......

I know you must be beside yourself for what happened - but think about getting another .... SOON !!

                      Many hugs to you,

So sorry ICan about your buddy. It's the most empty feeling to lose a pet - after all they are truly members of our families.

We rescue our dogs as well. They have all been so appreciative of coming to their forever home where no one ever again is going to mistreat them.

Ican, I hope the many good memories of your dog will take some of the pain away.
