looking for a new beginning
hi all. i just joined the forum...literally just now. last night i was on a bender and throughout the day i consumed three bottles of wine. i was drinking from early in the morning until night. this morning i went to the gym and it was murderous. i injured my foot and wound up in the hospital only to find when i was there and had some labwork done that my liver is weakened. i am so shocked. been lying to myself about the drinking for the past two years. any helpful information from you guys is welcomed. i feel like i have a mountain to climb and dont really know where to start so i will read the info on this sight. i too have done stupid things when drunk from driving a car to sending stupid texts and email. i want more for my life, my health, my loved ones. i was sober for a few years then started up when i fell in w a guy who was a heavy drinker...no excuse but...i didnt think i would be addicted again. this is scary stuff.Tags: None

Hi, Firedancer and :welcome: !
You have come to a good place to get alcohol out of your life.
A great thread to hang out in at the beginning is the Newbies Nest (link below). People at all stages of this process are there, offering ideas and support to one another. There also is a link to the Toolbox, a thread full of a variety of ideas for getting and staying sober.
Maybe you could introduce yourself in the Newbies Nest and read back a couple weeks to get to know the people who are posting there. It is a supportive (and often funny) group. This is serious business, of course, but a good laugh now and then helps.
Glad you found MWO! Hope to see you in the Nest. NS

Welcome Firedancer. Don't be worried, we have all done stupid things while drinking. But you are here now and that's all that counts. As the others have said, the Newbies Nest is a great place to start. Maybe you could tell us a little bit about yourself. Take care, and hang in there. You have a found a very supportive, wonderful community that can help you reinvent your life.

FD: I was where you are now. It's no fun, but there is a way out. Keep coming back here. I come to this site every day...especially the abs threads. I do go to AA meetings, as I needed face-to-face contact w/other alcoholics. MaryWisdom, Courage, Strength

Hi firefly welcome! You have the strength to do this, you said you've been sober for years at a time, so you know how good that feels, right? Are you still with a drinker? Might be time to tell him your medical condition and see how he reacts. Maybe he is thinking about his own drinking, maybe not, but saying it out loud seems to make it more real. Stick close, we are here for you!Newbies Nest
