Okay this is my first here and I am here because I am tired of drinking. I drank today and did good I feel cause I only had two cups to drink but, I still am disappointed in myself for even having done that. My problem is my boyfriend has told me I drink a lot he even makes jokes now about my drinking as well as some of my friends and family members. I don't consider myself to be an alcoholic cause I don't have to drink nor do I drink everyday. I am more of a social drinker but, when I do drink I have a tendency not to know my limit at times. I am a 34 about to be 35 year old female single mother of three and I am trying to raise my kids up in a more Christian up bringing than I was especially with the way todays society is and I do well for the most part but, I drink and smoke. Now I only smoke when I drink but, when I do I chain smoke. I want to be around for my kids and I don't have really any place else to turn can anyone help my with some good advice.

I think you will find lots of support here and lots of information on moderating or abstaining from alcohol. If you look below there are a couple of links, one is for the newbies nest, it's a good starting point, say hello and I'm sure by tomorrow you'll have lots of hellos. Also there is the toolbox where many people have left their ideas and things that have worked for them.

even a social drinker can be an alcoholic ........when you can't stop at just 1......then we have a problem

sorry but dosn't the bible say not to defile our bodies .......I know I did when I drank too much so until I turn my life around I can't expect to have gods approval
we know smoking shortens our lives and thats both drinking and smoking are not good for our health

we have to love our neighbours as we love ourselves so we wouldn't want to be blowing smoke and defiling the air around those we love

sorry But I'm just as guilty as you in doing things that god dosn't love

as good of a definition of an alcoholic in bold as I can think of. Yep, that's me alright. Only you know deep inside what you really think. Wish you well and if you think that it is a problem for you, this is a really good site to start. Very good, caring folks here.
