    Hey, Pinecone -

I think I was on that rocky road when I was trying to find meaning, or define myself, or whatever in the heck I was doing -- at the bottom of a bottle. It's good to be on a different path now .

Byrdie, that's actually a great idea. Let's keep it in mind! I would love to meet some fellow MWOers! You know, there is a group that meets (or has in the past) in England or Ireland. Not sure exactly where but I remember them doing that a while back.

Hi Pinecone - yes, the air smells good to be sure. And it is beautiful beyond belief. I just hope my skin can take the dry and cold since I'm used to hot and humid. My new mantra is "Where there's a will, there's a way" so I'll figure it out (lots of lotion). . . I already bought a humidifier. When we were last there I came close to getting a sinus infection. Those are not fun!

NS - wise words. The last thing we will find in the bottom of a bottle is meaning, right? Quite the opposite.

I'm obnoxiously chatty today. Just can't seem to shut up. I am accomplishing some things in between posts believe it or not. :H

        Chat away, UN!

I was extremely reserved for the last several years. All the better to keep secrets, I guess.
Apparently I was suppressing many things because I am really talkative in person again and (obviously) enjoy these online conversations as well.
It is amazing to me how many aspects of our lives and personalities can be affected by alcohol.

Pretty awesome stuff UN! The pictures are absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how all that clean air, peace and quiet, and wonderful views would make for a new beginning.

Hey K9, I'm glad to hear about your new friend - the little guy definitely hit the lottery.

            Hi Allstate and Unwanted :H

I am SO happy...my doctor said my broken foot is healed and I can get off the crutches....7 weeks of HELL!!! YAY...I think I need to go give my dog some extra kisses :h (No walk tonight though, I need to EASE back into this). I could tie the chichuahua and the spaniel together and let them take themselves for a walk. LOL
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

Hey June - glad to see you stopping by. You're doing so well. Big congrats. I think you're at a couple of months, eh? Don't do anything stupid like I did -- be smarter than me.

Hey Alls - how are things in the political arena? Update, please!!

It is amazing to me how many aspects of our lives and personalities can be affected by alcohol.
NS - so true - changes absolutely everything.

                Have a great evening everyone.

Un I have learned so much here, and all over MWO. I figured out early that I can't ever drink again. I just need to keep reminding myself why and stop the fantasizing about being a normal drinker some day. The cravings are nowhere near gone though.

                    Well, That Didn't Take Long

Well this thread got so busy!

3June - the cravings were what really kept getting to me for a long time. And I still struggle with them, but they are getting so much better! I keep moving along this path because I'm so much happier that AL is out of my life and also because I know it will only get better. I agree, there is so much great stuff to learn here!

UN - that cabin is fantastic!! My hubby and I talk about getting a small cabin in the mountains when we retire. We have a little condo (1 bedroom) on the coast in Florida, and we thought about commuting between the 2 when we stop working. (If that miracle ever occurs!!) Let me know how the small space thing goes for you - that's one of my big concerns as well LOL! Anyway, that is a completely ZEN location you have going on - so no excuses for no meditation there!!

K9 - so glad to hear your foot is better!! And a new doggie sounds so great! I've been trying to broach the subject of a new dog to my husband as well. We lost our old dog a couple of years ago (he was almost 18) and we loved him so much - it was really hard. We have procrastinated on another doggie as we like to travel a lot and keep thinking it will be a problem with getting sitters etc. but I really mis having an animal around.

Sounds like everyone is doing really great on this thread. I really enjoy reading all the posts. Hope you all have a great day. I'm off to get some exercise and take a stab at meditation!

                        Well, That Didn't Take Long

                        Hi Everyone,

ML, it's so funny that you should bring up splitting your time between Florida and a mountain cabin. Last night when R got to the cabin, some neighbors came to introduce themselves. They do exactly that - go 6 months to Fla and 6 months to CO. We have critters, so I'm not sure that could be an option for us. Even if you have a pet sitter, it won't work because they get lonely. You would have a better chance with a dog because they travel easier than cats. Cats are really hard. I love them so much, but I never thought about retirement and traveling when I got them. Oh well, guess you can't have everything.

Hey Witts - thank you so much. I'm so excited about our little place. It just feels right and holds lots of promise for a new beginning.

June, you know, I really always thought I was going to be able to moderate - deep down I just was sure I didn't have a bad problem. I think ML is right, though, if we can just hold on, it's going to get a lot better. This last go-round for me taught me something, so all was not lost. The first night, I enjoyed myself, the 2nd night I did not and it felt really empty. I knew very quickly that I don't want that life again. Hope you stick with it.

Well, on to pack - leaving tomorrow. My husband is already there and loving it! I'll post while I'm gone if I can.

                        Have a great weekend everyone.

                        xx,
                        UN :lilheart:

                          Hey UN,

Have a great trip, the whole move and cabin in Colorado is awesome IMHO!

The politics are moving forward. I learned so very much from the last campaign and how things work, what to expect, etc. I'm feeling smarter and more calm this time.

Funny about your autofill putting in Allstate when you type Alls, one of my absolute worst clients had an Allstate agency. Man that client was a pain in the ass.

Have a great weekend everyone, it's beautiful here and I'm going to enjoy the mild summer while it lasts.

Un your cabin looks so peaceful, and I am jealous. I am so ready to retire. I have a couple more years left, and then we have some decisions to make. Hubby and I want very different things and not sure how we will compromise but we have to come up with a plan. My niece lives in Costa Rica so I want to be there for most of the winter. Hubby says it's boring and too hot. I hate Canadian winters. Our house in the city will not be paid off but the equity would buy us a modest home elsewhere. He lived a long time in the country and now likes the city. I lived in the city and now want the country. Haha sounds like we never should have hooked up right? But if we work on it I am sure we'll figure something out!

Anyway enough about me. I am so happy for you and I look forward to your progress reports!!
