Hello everybody, I hope it's okay for me to join this thread. I'm new here but have been looking around for some time. Today is a brand new start, I'm kicking off with different routine involving exercise on leaving work which I hope will result in a different routine on arriving home. Life is always better without AL.

Good Morning Augusters and welcome Dippy...we are happy to have you join us.
Tink...I like your thinking about distracting ourselves during the time we are thinking about AL. I had been pretty good about it in June wihen I managed 30 days but somehow forgot how important it is....thanks for the reminder. What kind of supplements are you taking? I just started taking Kudzu.
Went to the gym for my 530 a.m. class this morning. I was tempted to hit the snooze but realized that I would never regret working out. Just like I will never regret not drinking the next day.
Tink....your plan for exercise and changing your routine is a good one. I have had to make some changes and need to make some more. Hope to get to know you better.
Have a great AF Wednesday (Hump Day)!Miley

Hi all,
Just a quick check in now that I am in regular internet access. Happy to report still AF and feeling good. I posted my musings on navigating the white water AL river of life on the On Becoming Joyfully AF thread -- didn't want to hijack this August thread with my long-winded metaphor.
I started back on AF track in mid July and am looking forward to achieving one solid calendar month of being AF. We all can do this -- stick close and post often.Free at Last

I like the dates you put in your signature line. I think it is another good tool to keep us accountable -- who wants to have to go in to the clunky MWO system and edit that :H, not to mention the pain of giving up the earlier date? I also think it is easier to know how to respond to people sometimes if you know where they are on this journey. What is a helpful to say to a person at one stage could be meaningless at another.
Have a great day! :h NS

Thanks, NS. When I was totally annoyed with myself for getting sucked into the alcoHOLE (using the white water metaphor), I decided "this is it." I'm going all out and yes, I don't want to have to change my quit date. Another step in becoming accountable, mostly to myself.Free at Last

I couldn't agree more!
Once again - I got home late (I travel for work and depending on how far out I've traveled for the day - it can get pretty late. - so it's ... once again ... the next day!
Happy Thursday!!
Hi Jmason, Dippy and anyone else who jumped in! Strength in numbers I always say!
Hope to post earlier tomorrow - as it's an "office" day .... :HPut your hands over your heart - and tell yourself that you are going to guard this essence of who you are with everything. Alcohol opens us up to darkness and depression instantly. You choose love today. Guard it by keeping the poison out of your body. It IS poison.

my favorite cocktail is simple club soda with a lemon wedge. Not sweet but refreshing!! During the day, I like green tea with lemon and mint.....iced or hot depending on the time of year and caffeinated or decaffeinated depending on what time it isI just won't anymore

I like a virgin Bloody Mary. I have never cared about the AL in it because I'm happy about the horseradish and old bay seasoning! Plus I feel like I'm getting my veggies.
Everyone seems to be doing well....I had a good run this morning and I couldn't have done that with a hangover!
Free.... I also like the way you are counting in your signature line. It reminds us that drinking AL is a choice. We don't have to do it.Miley

Checking in a little late. New regime started yesterday - with exercise and no AL. So today I . . . . .
looked in the mirror and liked myself a little more. I am sticking to just two threads (newbies and this) so will post a benefit that I feel daily. I will also make the effort to get involved in both threads and look out for everybody's experiences . . . . .
1 day AF

Just did the 7 minute workout that No Sugar mentioned in another thread. What a killer, but great for endorphines kicking in. Here it is.

I'm still AF, well over 2 weeks and into my 3rd.
Today someone in a professional capacity showed me just how much faith they had in me, and the changed I have made. I was gob smacked. It may or may not be enough to get me what I want, but I was extremely touched, amazed and a whole host of other feelings.
I was then able to tell them I'd gone AF and they were really pleased for me.
I have all my fingers and toes crossed things may work out for me yet.I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years
AF date 22/07/13
