        Alcohol Free August

Hello August AFers. I'm checking in - just got back from a business trip. I got my butt out of bed early this morning and used the Hotel gym. It really feels good when I can get myself to do it. I feel better all day.

UKBlonde - I am very impressed with your success. I look forward to hearing more about your journey.

Dippy - welcome! Good luck with the new AF you.

Free - I gave that link for the 7 minute workout to my sister to try out - it looked very intense, and I'm sure it would kick my butt if I tried it!

Witts - good to see you!

Samstone, Rita, NS, Miley, Jenni, Alls, and anyone else I missed - wishing you all a great AF day.

          Hi, MyLife

The 7 min sequence is really intense but at least it is short :H! Hope your sister thinks it is a good, efficient workout.

After you get used to it, you can do it twice but even with a rest, that still is less than 20 min and you're DONE. Having spent all these years as a medium-intensity, long-duration, bored exerciser, it is a really nice change of pace (literally!).

I upgraded the free app so that it is adjustable and have found that I like each exercise for 45 seconds with 15 second rests, done twice. Now I have to greatly improve my form on some of them.

It is good to see people are having a good AF August! Let's keep it going .

          :h NS

              Hii Everone,

Still here on this not so sunny AF Friday morning, but got up bright and breezy to take my daughter to station, her first day new job in good old London :fingers:

Of to hot yoga later this morning, joined a new club, just so luv it. Definitely couldn't do this one after a boozy night, so really helps in the process of to drink or not to drink, no contest at the moment !!!!!!

Welcome Dippy, you can do it.

Hi Miley, impressed, 5.30am start:egad:. Joking aside I do really think the supplements help. I'm taking glutamine, which I think is the real help, kudzu, magnesium, primrose oil and some of the mood enhances 5HTP etc.

              Good luck UKB, great job.

Look forward to sharing the journey.

              Tink

                Hi

Friday thanks Tink13. Well, day 3 . . . . and it's Friday. The difference this time is that I'm planning and getting endorphines at end of day to make up for rush of AL . . . . Already feeling a little brighter and more optimistic - I'm also just beginning to feel the physical benefits . . . .

Today I looked in the mirror and liked myself a little more
Today I woke up feeling little brighter not so hazy, joints less stiff and eyesight little better

                Day 1
                Day 2
                Day 3 will be

Put your hands over your heart - and tell yourself that you are going to guard this essence of who you are with everything. Alcohol opens us up to darkness and depression instantly. You choose love today. Guard it by keeping the poison out of your body. It IS poison.

Love waking up after an AF night but have to say after doing the 7 minute workout yesterday, I am feeling muscles I haven't felt in years. Now have to get myself motivated to do the 7 minute workout again today. Stay strong and focused everyone.

Just checking in to say Happy Friday! Glad to see everyone doing so well!

I have loads of work to do around the house this weekend. Not much fun but it will be good to get some things accomplished! I am starting to see some progress from working out at least 4 days a week, so that is encouraging. I am trying to get my diet under control but haven't been too worried about it since I am not getting calories from wine!

Have a great, AF weekend everyone!

                                Hello everyone!

My husband and I had a nice Friday night last night - we went out for Pizza and walked around a park with my sister, my nephew (he's 9) and their little doggie. I was tired, and didn't really feel like going but ended up having a really nice time. We were telling jokes and cracking up at the silliest things the whole evening. I reflected on the fact that in the past I would DEFINITELY not have gone on such an outing as it would have cut into my wine time - or if I went I would have had wine with the pizza and been really tired and gone home early. It's great to be AF and back among the living!
