    Alcohol Free August

    Good Morning Augusters!

MyLife.....I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes it amazes me when I am having so much fun without AL...like I never thought it was possible. It is actually so much better.

Getting ready to head to the gym and then we get to clean carpets today (yippie)....not too exciting but it needs to be done.

Hope everyone has a great day!
    Miley

      Alcohol Free August

Hi all, I haven't met most of you before- I've been hanging out on the MWO meds forum (Topa, bac, nal, etc) mostly.

I've signed up for a 30 day Abstinence challenge over there and thought I'd post here on the AF August as well. This is only Day 2 sober for me but I'm committed to having all of August AF.

I'll check in here daily. Thanks all for being there!

As for drinks- I keep mine simple. Morning-midday is coffee, and Afternoon-Evening is either water or my own lemonade or cran-ade- just a dash of pure lemon juice or cranberry juice, ice, water, and packet of Stevia to sweeten. Nice, mellow lemonade with hardly any fructose or calories.

      Have a great Saturday, all!

        Good evening one and all,

Great your on board babyland, like the sound of your lemonade, will be trying that one .

Just home from an evening in an old English country pub, what a great night. Would have thought it impossible, firstly because we would have never had gone before as it would have meant a taxi home, I being AF could drive and what was great was that I was having such a nice time chatting that I didn't bother about the fact I had a soda and lime.

Anyway home with a cuppa now to bed soon, and plan an early morning run along the seafront tomorrow.

Feeling so much better AF, long may it last.

        Night all

          Hello Everyone!

Checking in for Super Sober Sunday!

Tink - good job on going to the pub AF. That would be a real challenge for me, but I think it's great you can go out and still have fun. Jason Vale talks about how important it is to go on with your normal life and just celebrate you don't drink in his book - sounds like that's what you're doing!

          Welcome babyland!

I love waking up on Sunday's without a hangover and no regrets. Hope you all have a great day.

Day 3. Also day 1 of Antabuse (125mg, half a pill) just to really take away the "will I or won't I" conversation in my head. I'm committed, now!

Trying to keep the perspective that sober life is actually much more fun and enjoyable than the alcoholic one!

Hey Augusters.....well, I blew it and am back on Day 1 today. I had an especially painful counseling session yesterday and chose to drink as a way of handling my feelings. I will not make this mistake again and I will not give up. So back on the horse, I go and I am hanging in here for the rest of August and after.

                Hi all,
Welcome Tinks and SBL -- glad to have you joining us on this AF journey.
Miley, glad to see you back and it's great that you didn't wait long before re-affirming your decision. I have been where you are and have regretted my choices. The issue is to keep working toward our goal.

I had a quiet weekend -- catching up with friends, a walk in the woods with DH and my dog, movies, and enjoying the dog days of summer. Had strong desires to kick back with a glass of wine, but chose not to. Feeling good on a Monday morning because of it!

Here's to a great, AF week.

                    morning all,
start of another work week, off to a fiddle camp this weekend, which means huge temptation, but I got to get over it. Part of who I am is playing music with friends. So far it has been my hang up and not theirs. They don't care if I drink or not so I just got to keep pushing on and enjoy it for what it really is, which is the whole idea!

Miley it's just so much easier not to, but I too remember all those day 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s even up to ten at a time. Then I'd fall again.

Think I'm on day 21 now....they keep adding up.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

I always found things really got better from day 10 onwards.

                                Still here, still AF

Someone offered me wine last night, they don't know my background(they do now!) and I have had a drink with them not too long ago. I said no thank you, I've given up alcohol.
