      Alcohol Free August

Hello Everyone - I'm In!! ***stepping through door that broken Halo kicked in****

      My favorite Summer Drink -

      Key Lime Kooler:

      Coconut Water w/ pineapple juice
      1 Tbsp Lime Juice
      1/4 Avocado
      4 Cubes Ice
Stevia or other sweetner (to taste)

      Blend and Drink!
Put your hands over your heart - and tell yourself that you are going to guard this essence of who you are with everything. Alcohol opens us up to darkness and depression instantly. You choose love today. Guard it by keeping the poison out of your body. It IS poison.

        Alcohol Free August

Good morning and happy AF Friday everyone.

Rita - that drink sounds great also! I'm going to have to spend the weekend experimenting. I never would have thought of blending an avocado in a drink??!!

Today I'm going to focus on getting in some time to exercise and try a meditation. My husband and I are leaving for the weekend to visit his Dad who is turning 97!! He lives in a pretty neighborhood with lots of walking paths - so that's where I'll get my exercise.

At this point in my journey - a weekend is truly just a weekend. I no longer have feelings of longing for a drink just because it's Friday or Saturday. I'm so grateful for that! I'm still waiting for the day that I don't think about AL at all - but I suppose that will happen at some point.

Hope you all have a wonderful AF day!

Good morning everyone....so glad it's Friday!

Rita....that drink sounds really good. Avocado is healthy....I agree with MyLife..I never thought of adding it to a drink but I'm going to try it

MyLife....have a wonderful trip this weekend. I think the place you are in is nice. I suppose the day will come when we don't think about AL at all. I can't wait because I sure am sick of thinking about it!

No big plans for me this weekend....just the usual running errands. I do plan on doing some reading and working in the garden

          Have a great day everyone!

            Alcohol Free August

            Hi, AF August friends

I am very consistently aware of the fact that I'm not drinking and now it is ok with me if that doesn't change.

At first, when I was wishing I were able to drink, or physically/mentally craving alcohol, or feeling awkward in a social situation, or just plain feeling sorry for myself about what I considered a totally unfair problem, thinking about not drinking was driving me crazy. The subject absolutely dominated my mind and I couldn't imagine living like that.

At some point it changed to an awareness that I'm not drinking, that I'm glad I don't have to or want to --- believe it or not, thinking about not drinking is now a positive thought. And most importantly, although it crosses my mind frequently, it is not obsessive or distracting -- really, just a nice part of my day-to-day life. It gives me a boost of confidence every time it occurs to me that I'm beating this.

The drinks mentioned sound good - thanks for the tips! I just posted on another thread how good Egyptian Tea is if you like licorice. The stevia that is one of its components makes it too sweet on its own for my taste but sun tea made with that and the more astringent green tea in a 1:1 ratio makes a great iced beverage.

            Have a great day!

              Morning all
looking forward to a no booze cruise.

              One of my favorite drinks:
juice 2 oranges, 2 lemon or limes, 1 cup of water
1 inch of ginger, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of olive oil
in a blender mix all together. If you are into cayenne, put a smidge in there.

Sounds very healthy indeed. I'm going to try this for breakfast tomorrow.

                Thanks

That is so great to hear NS! I truly feel like some sort of a shift is taking place in me as well. I keep finding myself looking back on those evenings spent drinking glass after glass of wine and thinking - how sad. As opposed to I wish I could have a glass of wine...

This is really an adventure as well as a journey. I am loving the AF life and embracing it more and more each day.

Loving all the great drink ideas! I think I need to start a recipe folder for these. Another thing I can do in the evenings since I'm not sitting around in a fog drinking!

Have a wonderful AF Saturday everyone!

checking in on a rainy Saturday morning. Our refrigerator went on the fritz yesterday, messed with it till late last night. Bought the thing about 5 years ago new, piece of crap. Enough of that.

Hope all are well and enjoying your weekend
