      Alcohol Free August

Can I join in I'm a couple of days late, but have been AF since 1.7.13, so just into my second month.

Just beginning to have a few niggles to drink, so figured this would help to keep me on track especially as I have a holiday coming in a couple of weeks, so could do with the nice people on this site for support.

      :thanks:

          Alcohol Free August

Hi, UKBlonde, Tink, DD, and anyone who wants an AF August .

Checking in here each day (and especially when you're having any thoughts of taking a drink) is a great way to help keep yourself committed.

It would be cool if everyone who has posted so far succeeds this month. We CAN do it!

              Great JOB August AFers

Hi Aug AF'ers! Looks like everyone is doing good!

Welcome to MWO Tink13 - This is a great place to be! Let us know how we can help you!

About my Avocado in my drink recipe ... Make sure you blend the drink until the Avocado is creamy. The Avocado and Lime mixed create the most awesome taste. If you don't like coconut water, substitute Apple Juice. This smoothie truly is good tasting! And Healthy!

No Sugar - I agree with your thoughts on turning the "longing for AL to go away" into rejoicing that you are free. I am feeling that is the turn in direction I need to have. I spent the 3 AF weeks in June I had FEARING everything, and angry that I wasn't ever going to drink again. Once I pulled myself back together after a month off the wagon, I realized that I was never going to stay off Alcohol if I was spending all of my time missing something that is killing me. I suddenly felt thankful that I had the opportunity to stop before I ended up hurting someone else, or myself in the variety of ways that can happen while drinking. Its like a light bulb went off in my head.

Okay August AFers .... We're off to a GREAT start! Life is to be LIVED! Let's do this month with Clear Heads, Clean Hearts, and BIG SMILES!!

                Hello August Gang......

Rita - I went out and got the stuff to make the Avocado drink, so thanks for the tip. I haven't made it yet.

Yesterday was a weird day for me. I felt anxious and just generally icky.....I ended up crying last night but I guess I needed it.

Going out today with my Husband to look at houses. It is a beautiful day on the east coast.

Hope everyone has a great AF Sunday....I now I will! BTW....I am so blessed to have all of you. I can't believe the level of support that you can get from complete strangers.. You guys are awesome!

                  Alcohol Free August

                  Good morning August AFers!

I'm checking in on a sunny if humid morning! It rained all day yesterday. In fact it has been a pretty rainy summer for us, but I actually don't mind rain in the summer. It's the only thing that keeps the heat bearable!

Rita, thanks for the tip on the avocado. I've been out of town and haven't had the chance to try your drink yet, but I will!

Sam - I agree water is a great drink. It really is - just plain old water. I do prefer it cold however!

NoSugar - you are exactly right. Its easier to stay AF if you post at least daily. There were several times along this journey for me so far that I thought about drinking and then posted or read here and changed my mind. It really does work. It helps to feel as though you have a group you don't want to "let down" as well.

Un, great to see you here!

UKblonde - I have always admired your honest posts about your journey. I hope you will continue to post here. You sound like you're doing great!

Tink, DD, and anyone else I missed - welcome and keep posting! It works.

Have a great AF Sunday everyone.

                    Hi Miley! Cross Post!

I felt bad yesterday, too. Couldn't put my finger on it. Could be I was at a birthday party where a lot of people were drinking - but really I just felt yucky. Anyway, I woke up today and was happy as usual that I was not hungover, and felt much better.

Hope you have a great day house hunting. Sounds like fun!

I feel like I'm cheating 'cos I've used TSM so thanks for the welcome. I still have to remember I am now not an alcohol drinker, but it's a good feeling and will help me dig deeper.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years

                        Alcohol Free August

                        Hi Everyone,

Big thank you to No Sugar, Rita Now and My Life :thanks:

It really helps to know you have support.

Sorry just hit a brick wall, I think having reached the month goal, it feels a bit like you've reached the goal and can have a drink now. But that's really not where I want to go, I'm
                        enjoying being in control again.

Week days are not a problem, just seems to be the weekends when normal socialising would have been in a bar or restaurant with a bottle of wine.

Hoping with time will forget I'm the only one not drinking, and that will be the norm, hope that's possible.

Anyway made it through another weekend AF, had my hot chocolate and now to bed. Thanks again.

                        Tink

                          Hey everyone.....

Tink....I know exactly what you mean about hitting the one month mark. I had the feeling like "now what" I went on vacation the day after I hit 30 days and allowed myself to drink. I have had to start over again. You are smart to realize that you don't want to go there!

I had a great day looking at houses and then my hubby and I went to dinner at a waterfront restaurant. It was beautiful. Normally I would have noticed everyone having a nice glass of wine, etc...but tonight I actually noticed many people drinking tea, water and soda. I ordered an iced tea and my husband ordered a Long Island Iced Tea but it didn't bother me at all. This is major progress and I hope I can continue along that line of thinking.

Getting to bed early and heading to the gym for a 5:30 a.m. workout. Have a great evening everyone!
