Alcohol Free August
Hi SBL, It is very much an emotional rollercoaster in these first few days/weeks of sobriety. I believe our body, especially our brain, is doing some serious adjusting. I find that a little exercise can lift my spirits.Free at Last

Alcohol Free August
NoSugar, Free, and UKB- thanks for the kind words both here and on my progress thread- your comments were well received and appreciated.
Day 17 AF. Feeling better today, especially after a day of introspective thought regarding yesterday's emotional rollercoaster. Living life sober certainly is a whirlwind indeed, particularly in these early days/weeks.
The advantages of being sober that I'm experiencing, quite happily, are that I'm finally slowly but steadily losing a bit of weight, while getting stronger (lifting weights), through my ongoing exercise and healthy/clean nutrition that I've stuck with quite well. That spare tire is starting to sliiiiightly shrink And I've had a couple people now comment that I'm looking slimmer, stronger, healthier, so that never hurts.
Mentally/emotionally, doing pretty well, though the lingering sad/anxious emotions still come up and bother me from time to time, like an irritating and persistent gnat in my periferal vision. When that happens I can usually swat it away and continue being (mostly) pretty productive and positive, and not being a hungover mess every other day. Being sober does actually feel quite a lot better than drunk, so I'm happy with my progress.
Best to all!

Alcohol Free August
Long day for me. After midnight and I'm just checking in to say another AF day for me. I haven't had a spare moment to think of anything other than this big work project I'm the project manager for so AL never even entered my thoughts today, including sitting around a table with my colleagues going over last minute details. They kicked back with a glass of favorite AL beverage. I sat making lists of tomorrow's work. Boring, yeah, but necessary. Grateful to be going to bed exhausted, and sober.Free at Last

Alcohol Free August
Hey August Crew.....
Skull...congrats on Day 17.
WE....I pulled weeds in my garden today....my back is killing me but it looks good!
Free.....Good for you getting through the work AF. Alcohol only dulls the mind. I find I am much more productive when I am not working while sipping wine or fighting a hangover.
Well, in case you guys don't know, I blew it last night. I posted what happened on another thread, so I won't bore you guys with the details. Needless to say, I am pissed at myself but determined to keep pushing forward. Looking forward to finishing out the month of August with you guys AF and having a sober September.Miley
