shout out to the 311 gang

Hi 311 gang--I imagine some of your are lurking....

Just a quick shout out to see how you all are doing. I know Halo just celebrated 5 months AF but would love to hear from others.

As for me, I feel as though I have finally turned a corner oi my affair with alcohol. It's over -- there are days I still pine for my former friend, but deep down, I know I am better off without the beast in my life.

Do let us know where you are at in your journey. We gain strength from supporting each other.

shout out to the 311 gang

Hi Free! I have been struggling lately, to be honest. I am AF today, that's all I can guarantee. I'm happy for you.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

shout out to the 311 gang

Hi, free, I am doing well. I still visit here almost daily and get inspiration from so many.
I feel at peace now. My days don't revolve around alcohol. I have a glass of wine once in awhile, usually at a wedding, but I am in control. I am never going back to numbing myself with poison, facing a blurry morning wondering why I can't remember the night before. No thanks. Glad you are staying strong. I am so proud to be part of the 311 Gang!

shout out to the 311 gang

Dear Hallway and Siren, thanks for responding to my shout out.

Siren, I am sorry to hear things have been difficult for you of late, but glad to see you are determined to get back with the program and are on Day 1. The antabuse has been extremely helpful for me. I just had too many days where the wine was going to be ever present, practically in my face. The AB has helped remove the option from my thinking, though I still have cravings.

Hallway, so glad you are doing well.

While we are at different stages in our journey, we are all on the path toward a sober, joyous life.

        Warmest,

shout out to the 311 gang

          Free,
I am back after being away on vacation with no internet access, I know after not being able to check in , I really need to be active on the MWO, This is the place that has been an essential component in being able to maintain my quit. Without being able to enter the AF realm, you get caught up in the AL world we live in, AL is everywhere !!! Glad to hear we are still here and realize that for us sobriety is key to a better life! Wishing you all the best siren, halfway and free. Let's keep finding tools to battle that AL demon. Sending strength and positive vibes your way....
On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

shout out to the 311 gang

            Hi KellyC and Welcome,
I know the MWO website can be hard to navigate at first. Several good threads to read and post in The Starting Out section are the Newbies Nest (lots of people in early stages of AF living), and there is an August AF thread (again, people working toward one month of AF life). There is also a toolbox with suggestions for how to come up with a plan for avoiding temptation.

The 311 gang is a group of people who decided on 3/11/13 to quit alcohol. Several people have remained sober since that time. I have had several stops and starts and today will be 30 days alcohol free (AF) for me. But my journey does not end at 30 days, this is a process, not an event. I take it pretty much 1-2 days at a time.

So pop into the Newbies Nest, introduce yourself, and you will find a host of helpful people. If you have found your way to MWO, you believe alcohol is an issue for you. We have all been there, because we are here now!

            Best wishes,
