Chimpy you have a good reason. Can you just try to forget about the future and concentrate on today? Getting through today AF will have you waking up tomorrow feeling incredibly different. It has to start somewhere. Today chimpy?

Thanks folks, nice to know there's a lot of support out there and people going through the same thing.
No plans for the weekend. Had my last drink about 5 today, feeling crappy at the moment so I'm just going to have a quiet one in, read, watch films.
Hope everyone's okay.

Chimpy, what kind of books and films do you like? I wasn't able to read much during my drinking years, so I'm making up for lost time now. Same thing with films, so always looking for a good review Sorry you are feeling crappy, but glad you made the decision to post tonight. Hang in there. We are here when you need us.

All sorts to be honest. Book wise thrillers and detective novels such as Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo. Horror and fantasy too, Dean Koontz, Stephen King and Garth Nix.
Film wise absolutely anything. Some of my favourite films are Fight Club, Natural Born Killers, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, The Shining, Donnie Darko. Quite varied really.
I also like to read non fiction on things like psychology (Freud, Jung) and True Crime.
How about yourself? Hope you are feeling better by the way.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and The Shining are two of my favorite films. The Shining still gives me the chills I read the book, but Kubrick did a great job bringing it to the screen. OMG - those twins!! High on the creep-o-meter. I am feeling a bit better. Thanks, Chimpy.

Chimpy congratulations on 5 days this is fantastic. Please please try to stay on the path of an AL free life, at 22 the only option for you is to quit. This is the only way you can manage alcoholic pancreatitis with the hope of a normal healthy life. You have no choice but to completely abstain from alcohol. Over time your pancreas will become so damaged that your life expectancy is short. I read that 50 percent of patients diagnosed with alcoholic pancreatitis who continue to drink will die within 20 years after onset of the disease. If you continue to drink damage to your pancreas is not a chance but a reality. This disease will get worse, become debilitating, and rob you of a normal life. The good news is that you are so young. You have a big ole future waiting for you. Whatever you want. You just have to grab ahold of this opportunity to get sober. We are all pulling for you!Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.

I wish I had seen this earlier, but I haven't had a chance to check in until just now. Chimpy, you had almost 10 AF days and that's a huge accomplishment. In my experience, that's about the time I start to falter, so I understand. But the biggest thing is that you came right back and posted. You may have given in, but you obviously haven't given up. How are you feeling today? Benders totally suck. And so do hangovers. But, please try to fight the urge to have a drink to make yourself feel better. As you know, it will only make things worse. And keep posting, ok?

Chimpy, fall down seven times, get up eight. I hope you'll come back and post. You can do it with the help of this site. Even though we wouldn't choose to fall back into alcohell, the incident can strengthen our resolve to stay sober in the long run.
Hope you're ok and that you'll come back and post.
xx,
UN :lilheart:

Thanks guys, just feel a bit disappointed in myself, felt I was doing alright. Managed to resist having a drink to make myself feel better as I felt terrible this morning, so I'm past that stage and feeling a bit more positive now. Here we go again
