    Treats

    Hi Everyone,
Glad to say I am feeling good today, slept well last night, first time for ages!! Yesterday I rewarded myself for being sober with a trip to Sainsburys (for those who don't live in England) Sainsburys is a big supermarket. The one near me also has a large clothing section. In the clothing section they had a sale on, 25% off.

I bought lots of healthy food and drinks, two really pretty dresses, lovely underwear, and the total price was ?66, not sure how all this converts to euros or dollars but it really is extremely good value!!

It made me think, if I was drinking this would be the price of 4 days of alcohol for me.....interesting how it converts .... for the price of 4 days of bottles of pain, fear and sorrow I can buy such life enhancing things!

Oh and forgot to mention included in this magnificent price I also bought a Tshirt with beautiful patterns on it and the writing "Free as a bird" across it. Out of everything I like this T Shirt the best as it represents the start of a wonderful new life!

    How do you treat yourself?

DD sounds like a fabulous shopping spree! I have an app that is calculating how much I've saved being AF and I'm pretty sure it's up to $1000 already! I like to be pampered. I go for a massage, a mani pedi or I've even been known to go get my hair washed and styled. I figure I work hard and I can afford it so why not?

DD, sounds like a trip to Sainsbury's is in order. Isn't it great when you can avoid the wines and spirits aisle? I am glad you got all those things to enjoy.

I haven't had a chance to treat myself today, but on my list for tomorrow : Large bunch of sunflowers, if I can find some. 6 litre pack of San Pellegrino (sparkling water from Italy!) Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner, a nice salmon fillet for dinner with a Mediterranean salad, a new CD for the car maybe. A trip to the perfume shop for a nice new bottle of Flowerbomb, and out of my former alcohol and cigarette money, I'll still have a few pounds left over for a few wee bits and bobs that take my fancy.

Oh, and this weekend I am meeting a very good AL free friend for coffee, it's my shout, and I won't have to pretend to have left my purse at home or lost my bank card :H

Definitely time for a Sainsbury's trip if there's a sale :H tonight I bought some slippers with racoon faces on cos I thought they were cute and some new PJs. ?50 a week that I somehow used to find for wine hasn't really made it into my bank account but I don't feel a bit guilty if I buy scented candles which I love and nice products for the bath (and chocolate of course),

I finally broke out of my nail polish RUT. I ordered an aromatherapy diffuser and an assortment of essential oils. Everything should arrive today. The question is....Now what? LOL

More yarn for me (expensive damn hobby!! But I love it) And a massage sounds divine. I haven't gotten one in a very long time. Thanks DD - one more incentive to stay the course.

K9 - You'll love your diffuser. I have a large collection of essential oils and use them every day for just about everything from making soaps, candles, cleaning supplies, lotions, potions - you name it. And of course, I'm relying on them heavily now to help with the cravings. I even keep a collection of oils at work. Definitely starts lots of conversations with my co-workers.

That is one thing I have not really contemplated yet, financial abundance and all. But let me get a couple more paychecks under my belt where I am not dropping it down the drain on bar tabs and other nonsense and I will report back.

However, suffice to say that my "lifestyle" no doubt took a serious toll on my financial well being. As a single guy on my salary, you would think I would be able to live fairly comfortably, but the reality is that I was (and for the time being, still am) barley scraping by.

The problem, at least for me, was not just the booze, it was the poor decisions I made while under the influence that also dropped my bank account like a thai hooker. Buying rounds for random strangers, strip clubs, massage parlors, expensive take out, Amazon spending sprees, etc. all contributed to my financial misfortunes, and are all also activities that I would never dream of partaking of while sober.

I look forward to digging myself out of the mess I have created for myself financially, and then I am sure I will be able to afford things which actually enrich my life and well being.

c-dev - I think most of us here would admit to being less than financially savvy during our drinking years. I made a mess of my finances during that time- my god, the bank took my house after 15 years. One of my motivating factors to join MWO and finally get sober. You can dig out. It's hard, but not impossible. You are doing great.
