    do I quit?

I have been drinking a bottle of whiskey per day for 10 - 15 years. I don.t appear to be drunk, but I worry about my health; have gone through a short period where I had bad tremors and even admitted myself to hospital, for fear of organ failure. But was discharged the next day with no signs of damage.
I have now built up to 140 mg of bac per day; do not feel any different and am still drinking as much as ever.

pinoak - glad you are here and welcome. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but a bottle of whiskey a day sounds a bit risky to me. Here's a good thread about those of us who feel we have beat the odds when it comes to health issues: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...dds-78984.html. Please read through these posts, because you will see a common thread. We are all grateful for a second chance. Please think about doing one day AF. Just one. And see how it goes.

    Take care,

Pin....feel free to join us in the Newbie's Nest, link is below. Also find the Tool Box, there are 100's of tips and coping skills there to help you. We are so glad you found us...don't be shy, just jump in! You can't tell us anything we haven't seen/heard/done!!! Welcome aboard! Byrdie

Edit: Yes, you should quit. If you were an average person reading the above post what would your answer be? It's not easy, but it's easier than trying to make everything else work around that bottle. Life is so much simpler when AL is out of it. Drinking is not 'normal' for humans....not drinking is, somehow we got the equation out of balance with social pressures and such. You already know the answer, that's why you are here, listen to the little voice that is trying to break free of addiction....B

Pinoak. I too had built up a high tolerance for alcohol. I was up to a bottle of vodka a day (I would have prefered Scotch but I was hiding my drinking.) I too thought I didn't appear drunk but I certainly was. I also worried about my health. Have you had a blood test? Organ damage doest start with failure. Make no mistake about it you have likely done damage to your liver, pancreas, gall bladder, kindneys and brain chemistry. I would encourage you to talk to your doctor and certainly take a simple blood test. I did and my liver enzymes are out of wack and I have the beginnings of liver disease. I am also pre-diabetic and have high blood pressure. Alcohol is a factor in all of these conditions. I wish you the best and since you are here hope you are on the verge of an alcohol free
life. Detox is tough but don't let it stop you. With the amount you have been drinking medically assisted detox may be your best bet. You can do it on an out patient basis. Good luck and keep posting.

pinoak drinking a full bottle of whiskey a day is definitely causing you harm. Should you quit? Do you want to live a long healthy life? Do you want to wake up feeling bright and happy? Do you want to turn this all around?

                    do I quit?

Pinoak Not sure what you want here. I've seen your posts on a number of threads and its almost as if you are bragging about the quantity of booze you can handle in a day. You talk about being comfortable with your lifestyle yet you are on a website that is dedicated to people who arent comfortable with drinking one drink let alone 17 shots of whiskey a day. While the BAC you maintain is about half the lethal dose I'd be more worried about the damage you can do walking and driving around impaired. OBTW at your rate of drinking organ damage is occuring even if you are symptom free at this point. If you truely are comfortable with the amount you are drinking and just want to know if you are damaging your health you dont need us, just talk to your Doctor. Otherwise Good luck with your lifestyle just dont drive in my hometown. Regards
