    Sugar Free Roll Call

    Hi all. I too am sugar free and loving it. In addition I don't eat man made carbo's. I eat slow carbo's like beans, lentils, and those from fruits and veggies. Fighting the sugar battle is important for us all.

        Hey Skullb,

        yes I found that being quite active some carbs really can help - carbs that are not refined and man made. I greatly enjoyed his book. From him I also took the 30gm of protein in the morning when you get up trick. I just mix a whey protein drink first thing in the morning.

        I am on about 1 and 1/2 years for my new nutrition plan. I really enjoy it. My wife get frustrated with me sometimes and what I won't eat

        I go through a lot of club soda.

                    Thanks NS - I'm literally popping in and out of here atm.

                    I'm meditating as well which is helping me become aware of my feelings but not necessarily act on them. I'm learning to not be "reactive-responsive" i.e. I can dictate what I do and how I feel regardless of the environment.

                    How's everything with you?

                      I'm feeling great, Londoner. Thanks for asking. Right now, AL fits right in with the other dietary changes I've made over the years and I don't miss any of it. The weight that lifts when the struggle is over is fantastic. I've really been enjoying exercise again - mostly cardio interval work and fewer reps of higher weights than before. I like how much more efficient this form of exercise is with equal or better outcomes than moderate intensity, long cardio and multiple reps of modest weights. Thanks for all the advice you gave us in a previous thread. I'm working on a meditation practice, also, and have experimented a bit with tapping (EFT). I'm really enjoying all of the changes that follow from not drinking and although there are some rough, real life things to deal with, it feels good to actually be dealing. Sometimes I refer to learning to live a sober life as a Big Adventure, and I truly think it is one.

                      Keep it going, Londoner - you are so fortunate to be doing this at a young age with the promise of so many good years ahead of you.

                            It is tough, isn't it. Sugar isn't inherently bad. I just think the problem is using it to treat mood and energy. So if I've eaten 90% well, a choccy bar here and there doesn't hurt me.

                            The mood yesterday was off, but everything stabilises when I do not eat large sugar doses for 1-2 days.
