        Sugar Free Roll Call

OOF! Total fail on sugar. My weekend was an epic, Homer Simpson-like sugar binge. Gross. I really need to work on this! Today I am getting rid of anything in my kitchen with added sugar, even fruit jam. Today= Day 1 of no sugar.

It isn't as hard as you think, I promise :l!! The desire can be tamed, just like the one for AL.

No matter how organised I am, I find it hard to have 3 meals a day pre-planned -- end up with a hunger 'window' and the bar of choccie is called on --- just need to get organised --- and interested if I'm honest!!! Just know I need to!!
I agree it takes planning but I thought it was much easier to give up sugar than AL -- which I guess is why I did it first even though I knew I needed to do both! Plus, I had to give up numerous carby foods that turn to sugar quickly. If you don't need to do that, it really shouldn't be too terrible. The easiest thing is just to not eat processed foods.

                Good luck!!

Yep, definitely takes planning, but it can be done and it's worth it. The produce aisle, the meat aisle (if you're a meat eater), and the bulk foods ailse are your friends-- all the boxed (processed) foods are not. If you can just stay away from processed foods you're already winning!

Of course, this is much more true in the US than in European countries, I hear. Ireland may be a different story...

I'll be back on this too.....starting tomorrow. Already had way too much sugar today.

Funny, when I'm in a dark place my sugar intake is a lot higher.

I think there is a loop, just like with alcohol, and it all makes sense in terms of brain chemistry. Who knows whether the depression causes the sugar/AL dependence or the dependence causes depression but man, once that cycle starts spinning, it is hard to break.

Totally agree- I've definitely noticed a loop of craving/binging/satisfied/guilty- repeat.

Lately I've been craving sugar like crazy, every evening. I have 2 more getaways planned in Sept but after that, beginning Oct. 1, I'm coming back here to get rid of sugar. Going to shoot for 30 days.
