                17 October

Eloise day 3 ( posted wrong day in the other roll call).

                Skull ? You still here?
What are your guidelines? Does honey in your tea when you have a sore throat mean you restart the count?
I restart if I eat something sweat on impulse or in the middle of the night.
On impulse means I try and talk myself out of it but eat it anyway. Even just one bite.
I have not binged on sugary sweats since I started which is great!

Hi, El. You aren't alone. I live this way, too - and like it . I saw you were wondering about feeling less puffy - when you eliminate sugar, your blood insulin levels generally are lower. Since insulin makes you hold on to water, that is part of why sugar (and carbs that turn to sugar quickly) can puff you up. Fruit sugar (fructose) does not increase insulin so doesn't cause fluid retention. Nice benefit, isn't it?

Hi No Sugar! Thanks for your input and I had no idea sugary food/drinks could make you puffy?
Unfortunately I am back to day one.
I drank a new soft drink yesterday I assumed was sugar free, now I see it is not.

I will continue this until I get it right.
And yes not feeling puffy is a great benefit!

Eloise 2 ( made it to day 5 so let me focus and make it through 7 days. This is a lot like quitting the wine).

No sugar in my diet or carbs.. Causes to much issues like chocolate once I start I cannot stop.
Hershey bars are my fav. Sugars make my skin itch with yeast breakouts.

I switched ti stevia. It's from a plant it's great. No more cravings for sweet stuff....

Morning all! Eloise, I am back- still sugar free! Glad you're sticking with it. Today I am day 9 sugar free, and feeling great. The first 4-5 days are the worst. After a week or so things begin feeling good, mood and everything balances out nicely.

Just as an added thought to what NS was posting above- fruit will not make you puffy, but fruit JUICE will. This is because in juice, you don't get the fiber. In whole fruit, the fiber acts as a buffer so that your liver/pancreas does not produce excess insulin.

A great resource on sugar etc as well as living healthy vs. eating sick is the movie FED UP. It is available now on demand I believe, in various services. www.fedupmovie.com It's one of the best documentaries on food I've found.

I too switched to Stevia to sweeten my drinks. It's so much more healthy, and sugar/calorie free. I DO consume carbs in healthy forms/amounts- fruits, veggies, sweet potatoes, sometimes rice or gluten free bread.

I also do a scoop of L-Glutamine per day, sometimes 2, in my drinks to head off sugar cravings before they start.

All in all, doing good! Glad you guys are here

Hey- nice to have some company here!

Well, i am back to day 1. Woke in the night and had some green tea sweatened in the frig.
I cannot tell my hb yet no more of this in the house. It may come to that. I do great during the day and then wake in the nigh craving sugar. Usually I eat a banana and go back to sleep.
                                any suggestions?
