That's not bad, Beachy! With sugar, reducing intake really helps and for metabolically healthy people, is probably enough.

you sure are learning a lot about yourself El. Interesting how one problem can be caused by or masking another and we don't see it until we start tackling them one-by-one.

I was in a situation on Friday night where I would have had to be what would have been perceived as overtly rude not to eat the dessert that was acquired especially for me. So, I had a small serving and raved about it. It was good and my brain would have liked more so I'm glad it would have been equally rude for me to eat all the rest! When this happens occasionally, I just try to be extra vigilant for the next couple of days. I'm sure glad no one ever buys alcohol especially for me! I'd just have to be rude .

Very true NS, after 11 months of not drinking I start to get to the root of the problem.
Wine used to help me fall to sleep, or so I thought.

      Slept through the night again.
Starting day 4 SF and no snacking after 8. All good!

Hi all, back after an extended absence...

Day 1 SF. Armed with lots of L-Glutamine which seems to really help me get past cravings. Shooting for 7 days (then 14, then 21, so on) until I'm safely past my sugar addiction...

              Congrats Skull!

              Starting over, day1.
But, I made the decision to try a banana cupcake while fully awake, not 1/2 asleep as has been my problem.
And last night was the 5 th night of not waking up to eat something forbidden in the night.
That said, yeah- day 1 Again but making steady progress none the less!

day 2 - made an apple/raisin treat yesterday w/honey as a choice INSTEAD of cupcakes.
and another restful night was accomplished last night.
AND (this is big NS so hang onto your hat) I am cleaning and organising my painting studio and sitting room (for my parents to use while their kids are in art class).
It was a complete disaster area, you couldn't see my desk for the piles of lesson plans & art crap everywhere. I couldn't get my head around it (so I just worked around it).
Now that my desk has been enlarged and cleared I start thinking to myself 'could the fog of years of drinking STILL be lifting?' Almost a year later are the benefits of stopping drinking still emerging? Maybe so.....

AWESOME Skull!! Back to day 2 here, but not giving up & trying to focus on what is going right versus being the eternal perfectionist ( my default ). Happy Sunday.

                      Thanks, El back atcha!

Day 7! made it one week! Now the trick is not to celebrate tonight with sugary junk... but instead, go on to my second week. I'll break this addiction yet.

Have you guys watched the documentary Fed-Up? It is on Netflix now. It's pretty motivating!

Day 8 SF. I almost broke last night. I think Glutamine is the only thing keeping me from breaking.

I would really like to get on the no sugar band wagon. I can't seem to stop myself from drinking soda at night. I make it all day just fine but it has become my go to drink since I stopped drinking. Any advice folks have on here would be great, thanks!

Replace your soda with something sugar free like carbonated water?
I drink Spa rood, carbonated water. For some reason I like this one, not sure what the US equivalent might be?
Somehow it is more satisfying than flat water.

I also brew a pot of green tea, add honey if you find it boring? Or not... it is tasty enough plain but you might have to get used to it?

Day 4SF (again, but it's okay, work in progress I guess....)

Oh, and eat fruit to kill those sugar cravings? When you are full it seems to stop ... at least for me.
Fresh pineapple, oranges, bananas, apples.... fill the fruit bowl on your dinning table/kitchen ... etc... office....
