Day 2, too. I've been mostly sugar-free with the exception of the date-night or celebration desert temptations. It's time to get this monkey all the way out of the picture. I'm working on wrapping my head around the finality but know that is doable - especially since I've managed to get AL and Nicotine out of my life once and for all. I like the idea of a check-in for additional motivation and support!Sober for the Revolution!

whoops... lost track and fell off the wagon this morning.
I found left over brownies (that were FANTASTIC) hidden away in the freezer and I ate one!
Back on track. I have been eating too many carbs lately, that probably didn't help.
A new day 1 tomorrow... regardless I am focusing on what I am doing right, and continue to work on the rest.
By the way the yoga and meditation is going well, the night eating is a huge effort I have to talk to myself about before bed and then I do fine.
Otherwise, I start to get off track little by little.
Lets try and keep each other motivated Skull???(AF since 17 May 2014) 2 years 5 months sober

Day 3 - almost done. Thank gooberness there were no lurking brownies anywhere! I get the night time yearnings for sweet stuff, too, Eloise. Now eating a bowl of green beans with a dollop of yummy ghee on top. Satisfying. Mostly.Sober for the Revolution!

Good job, Turn! Are you feeling any different?
I had a bite of a lovely looking cupcake at a party last night. Everyone was raving about them so I decided that I would have a special treat. But it didn't taste good to me at all and I threw the rest away. I think it really is possible to change our preferences. I know that several years ago, I would have skipped much of the regular food and eaten 2 or 3.

Day 5 here!
NS, I made cupcakes this afternoon with honey. I have decided that I need to stop baking with sugar because I inevitably want to try one thing or another, well... if I just don't bake with sugar than I do not have to beat myself up anymore. This is where I am having trouble, not with ice cream etc... just the smell of fresh baked goods driving me slowly crazy.
Time to set us all up for success around here.
The added bonus is the honey doesn't make my students crazy after 15 minutes. I made peanutbutter cookies a couple of weeks back and really noticed the kids were ready to get back to work after snack.
So. I have decided that my SF journey for the coming months will contain fruits and honey and I will limit the raisins to with cereal for the most part.
Once I get a few months under my belt let's re-evaluate, or not? It could just work fine.
By the way... we just tried a cupcake I made this afternoon and they were BETTER than with sugar. Not too sweet and silky smooth.Last edited by Eloise; May 17, 2015, 01:37 PM.(AF since 17 May 2014) 2 years 5 months sober

Day 6 - Done! NS - I am generally a clean eater, but let the processed sugar/starch creep in on vacation and date night. I've coupled the strict NS with a vow to ride my bike like the wind every darn day rain or shine for 30 days. I don't feel an epic improvement - yet - although I must say my energy level is up a bit along with my general mood....all is good.
What also helps = glutamine. I'm adding to the powder to my riding water bottle. AND I am going to start practicing your approach of pretending that sugar is 'dead to me.'
Eloise - I am glad you've found some good substitutes...I just can't handle even the healthy version of baked goods. If I have one....I'll want a hundred. Just like drinking! Arrrgghhh!!:egad:Sober for the Revolution!

Day 6
By some miracle Turnagain I can eat one honey cupcake and be satisfied.
Not the same with store bought pasta however, or store pizza.
Anyway, it wasnt the same with the peanutbutter honey cookies... Wanted a few more of them. No sugar spike and no weight gain so will go for the honey substitute if so inclined and it doesnt get out of hand.(AF since 17 May 2014) 2 years 5 months sober
