Counting definitely helps me to stay on track. Being accountable here is as important as not drinking. The two go hand in hand, I would binge eat (at least eat bad stuff) after drinking, so one episode triggered the next. Best to just stay away from both.

Way to go, El! There is an interesting commentary about sugar (and addiction) in today's NYT:

Pretty impressive to make it through Christmas, El! I used to always gain weight at Christmas unless I was actively "on a diet" because of all the cookies. It is much nicer now to eat as much as I want as long as it is SF (there is only so much cheese and nuts I can eat but cookies were like wine - always room for more...).

Haha! Amazing how many cookies one human can eat huh?!
Bizarre.
I will go on a mission to try and make sugar free cookies for snack in January for my art kids.
You know NS I just do not feel enticed by desserts, never had until I quit drinking. Now I look at it as a risk factor to staying sober, which makes me take this all very seriously.
I just want to be free of all of this addictive behavior and be able to focus on what is important.
Like dachshunds!!!! Just kidding... I love hotdogs.
