Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Star, right back at ye'! When I was close to drinking the other night, I did think of you and it was a factor in saying 'no'. It's nice to have someone looking out for you.IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO BE WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN
Relapse starts long before the drink is drunk!!.Fresh Start!

Thanks Pav!
Out at my brothers for a bbq last night. Everyone was drinking. I busied myself with cleaning up most of the night. Then at the end I joined them in a singsong. I sang a few songs (can't remember words when drinking). It was a good night. I was not tempted to drink....these social occasions I find ok.....my problem is at home .....my drinking partner was myself and the tv.
It is only 5pm here but the darkest, heaviest sky....think we are in for some rough weather!IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO BE WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN

So glad you are doing so well! And thanks so much for hanging with me! I was late checking in today and was posting in the nest and couldn't even remember what day I was on. I hoped when I went to roll call that you would have already posted so I would know i was one day behind you. I'm not a good counter!
I'm so happy for us!!
Thanks for the congrats, ABC!!!:heartbeat:

Daisy, where did you get to? You made 14 days! That's fantastic! So, AL got the best of you, so what!! Don't isolate over it...you know that's not helpful either. In the early days of my current and last quit, every time I felt the urge to drink I told myself that I want to be sober more than I want to drink. I said a prayer to God to help get me through the next seven minutes, 7 minutes, the average time that a craving lasts.
I really thought this thread would help more than a few people because it is what we are all looking for, a fresh start, one that would lift us out of the despair and disaster that alcohol gives us. If I had the time and money, I would go to each individual person that was struggling and spend some time with them, just talking, sorting through problems and life issues. But I can't, so this forum is the option available to me. I offered and still do, my email address and phone number for anyone who needs it, anyone who needs an understanding voice to get through those seven minutes.
So come back here, let's you and I together see if we can't use this thread to help all those struggling find their "fresh start"!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
