And by Gan club, I meant Fan club.

Great that you can talk to your daughter and get support from her. My kids are too young to hear the saga. Eventually, I guess.

        Late check-in here.
Went swimming yesterday with my daughter. Both done 50 lengths....was so impressed she done it as she does not go swimming....came to help me get started again.
My son and his girlfriend came to stay yesterday. Big breakfast this morning then we went bowling. Was nice.
When I git home around 4.30pm my sister arrived....I could have cried. Had spent the past 24 hours entertaining without alcohol and she walks in with her wine. She sat for 3 and a half hours. She knew I wasn't drinking so I am a bit miffed that she called anyway.
I was bored and couldn't wait until she left. She wasn't drunk but that is not the point. It does get you thinking about drinking when you wouldn't otherwise......mostly because drinking would make listening to another drinker more tolerable......which is why I do not want to be around drinkers! Aaaaaaagh!
My daughters reckon she won't do it again after seeing that I am determined not to join in....let's hope so.

Boy do I get that point daisy. That's been one of the struggles for me. Putting up with some social events without the booze because it does make some situations a little more fun and definitely more tolerable. I can't lie to myself, there were times with the nice little buzz going that the conversations would get very stimulating and a person would feel like they were having a great time. The problem for me was I would cross that invisible line in a heart beat and all of a sudden the great time turned into me being a maudlin or slurry or stupid acting person. And I never knew when that moment was going to hit. I try to think of that now whenever the thought occurs to me that drinking looks tempting. I always remind myself of the picture of me sounding and looking out of control and it helps get over the hump.

Thanks Sctotlass and Addy. I didn't think of it as a win but actually now I see you are right SL. Grateful for that!
Addy, me too. While I am crossing over from fun-time Frankie to ass-hole I think it is all good at the time. But next day I remember nothing after the first few drinks. Usually have to check stains, bruises etc to find out what could have happened the night before. Then there are the dear friends who recount every detail of your movements!

That was the day I quit daisy. Big bruise on the hip, vague memory of saying something really stupid to a dear friend, blacked out and freaked out. It was finally time to put on my big girl pants and say good-bye to alcohol. I want to be in control...not alcohol!

2 weeks!! Not only do you have your big girl knickers on, you've got the devil by the tail as well!!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Thanks Cowboy and Scotlass! Feels real good!
Sleep really needs sorting. Awake until almost 5am last night. So today I done 10k on the bike, an hour at the gym and 50 lengths. This is purely to tire myself out so that I can reset my sleeping pattern....we will see. Gonna set the alarm early as well.

Heard that quote on a show I listened to, but yes, I did read NoSugars link.....very good.
In Recovery we find freedom....this was the title of the bubble hour broadcast I listened to today at the gym......would highly recommend it for anyone either contemplating quitting or in recovery.
