    End of week Six

Checking in on my new Friday routine. Took a big step forward this evening. Every Friday after work we would go to the local, have a meal and sink three pints by 7pm. Then stop by the supermarket and buy several bottles of strong beer (started on three x 4% building up to 3 or 4 x 8.2% cider). Race home , put telly on, drink until passing out.

Every Friday. This was the start of the weekend blitz that lasted until Tuesday. Day off the beer Tuesday (hey I was not an alike I could have day off) then start again Wednesday. But Friday was always a big one.

Tonight I went to the pub after work. Had a meal. Had a pint of Pepsi. Stopped at the coffee shop for an Americano on the way home instead of booze.

Day 42 today. The Mrs just said "I think I am happier not drinking and I like you better this way too" She never appeared to have as bad an issue with booze as me but I would encourage her to drink with me. Without realising or stressing she is 42 days AF as well.

It means nothing to her as she is not AL depedent so it has not even been noticed.

    It means everything to me.

    Yo there Softy,
Sorry missed your last couple of Friday posts.

Mrs Softy sounds a bit like my Mr JC. He was my best drinking buddy, very rarely drinks these days and even rarer for him to drink in the house. Usually just a few pints with the 'boys' on a Friday.

Now when I say 'boys' we're really talking about a group of middle aged men with enough aches and pains between them to have their own sit-com.

And I'll say this often you are doing a blooming cracking job on this AFness.

    Keep On Keeping on indeed.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
    AF since 7/7/2009

Hi Softy - my Husband doesn't have an Al problem either - but he drinks much less now that I don't drink - mainly because a normal person doesn't want to drink alone!

Anyway, we get along so much better when I'm not drinking that it's just a non-issue. And we've also found that we can go out and do things - I just don't drink now. And as more time goes by it really is just fine.

          Congratulations on 6 weeks!
