I don't know...
Hi SDM, I'm glad you found us! This site gets a lot of traffic so it can be confusing to figure out, but stick with it and you'll be rewarded.
If you find the heading "monthly abstinence" you can find the thread labeled "tool box". That one has lots of tips and tricks for beating this thing.
I don't take any meds, but I do use vitamins, proper nutrition, excercise, hydration (loads of people are under-hydrated), meditation. I try to maintain normal sleep habits but that's not always possible for me. There is a meds section in the site though if you are looking for information.
You should also consider posting in the "newbies nest" which is under the "just starting out" category.
You can beat this thing if you want to, and you'll never regret it! I hope you stick around!"When you have faults, do not fear to abandon them." Analects of Confucius

Hi and welcome. If you are thinking about taking meds look at the medical thread. That will give you an idea of the meds that are taken, the successes and the nonsuccesses and the side effects those on here have experienced.
There are many ways to get sober and you'll find your way here.

Welcome aboard. I'd like to suggest two places to dive into and both links are in my signature line. Newbies nest is a very active thread with folks in all stages of quitting. It's a great place to jump in. Also spend some time in the tool box. There are hundreds of tips and coping skills to help you. So glad you found us. This place saves lives and I'm one of them! Hello & welcome SDMF,
Glad you found us, this is a good place!
I started by going to the Health store here on the site & downloading the MWO .pdf
It has lots of info to help you get started. You don't have to take Rx drugs, many don't, I didn't. There are recommendations for vitamin & herbal supplements in the book.
The MWO Hypno CDs were a great investment, I highly recommend them.
Please visit us in the Newbies Nest for more support.
Wishing you the best!

I did some reading about melatonin and its affects on saratonin levels. I personally think I had elevated saratonin levels and the melatonin spiked it out. Even though it was suggested that I take 2mg I only took 1. After that I made the choice to let my chemistry self balance out. It took I think about 6 days before I was getting any kind of respectable sleep patterns developing. Oh and I wasnt eating for crap either.
Try the melatonin if you want .. but I would suggest .5mg and go from there.
Just me though.
