How do I get help when I start the craving before caving??

Im kinda the same way on the sweet thing.

I never really ate sweet things. My boys would say "No way ! Dads having Ice cream ?!" whenever I filled a small bowl of the stuff for myself. I used to have Pound Cake for my birthdays by my own choice. Now I really enjoy it..like every night enjoy it . That and Yogurt..never ate yogurt ..ever. Now I cant get enough of the stuff. I look in the fridge and I see only 3 left and its like I need to panic and run to the store to pick up another 20 of the little cups of goodness. Really..I buy 20 at a time LOL. Im not going to tell anyone yet that those little kiddie "snack paks" of butterscotch pudding are filling a whole shelf in my kitchen cupboards. Um..I think I got something in the neighborhood of 20 4 packs of them suckers..dont tell anyone though..K ?

I dont care right now though..Im eating better in general so screw it

More importantly Im Glad your feeling better today. Hang tough.

How do I get help when I start the craving before caving??

Yesterday was definitely better...I am kind of cranky today...I am trying to bite my tongue and not tell everyone to fuck off...lol. I have a little more confidence that I can do this today well at least at this moment...I even have a small urge to go to church. I have never really been a religious person but more spiritual. I found a non-denominational church that I can wear jeans too and they speak language about the bible that I can actually understand. I have actually gotten many friends to start going there as well. Oddly I don't make is as much as they do.

If I make it through this week my goal is to start tapering off of the sugary foods and getting back to the gym. I hope I get my energy back by then because for the last two weeks I can't stay up past 9pm. I am still mad that I caved last Sunday but lesson learned.. I HOPE

Here's to thirsty Thursday....lots of WATER for me

Dave, I hated sweets and now I cant get enough. I'm with you though its better than the alternative. Slowly though I'm cutting back. I think tapering works for the sweet tooth. NS it wont be long before I'm posting on the sugar free thread.

Yay Honey! Day 4 is awesome! You sound so much better :l

I was never a sweet eater either...I loved salty foods (still do) but recently I have been going on a candy binge around 3pm every day. I walk around City Hall and take candy from every dish I see. This is not good. And G...I hear ya on those cups of pudding...I am obsessed with Tapioca right now, but usually do the chocolate/vanilla mix.

Honey, are you still taking the AB? If you take anything else (vitamins, meds, etc) you should just mix it in there so you don't even think about it...that's what I do. I would have to consciously pick it out at this point....whereas I used to play that game where I "forgot".... we know where that leads.

Hang in there my friend :l

K9 - Yes still taking the AB...I have to take it before bed or I get a really bad headache and sleepy. I take another med before bed too, so I do take them together. I was just wondering did your "friends" ever say to you when you quit drinking...I don't have many friends but the ones I do have are very supportive. But I have been back and forth so many times they asking me are you drinking or not right now...lol...ridiculous!

I didn't have any drinking friends at the end. I was totally a recluse drunk! I finally learned my lesson about driving drunk so I had stopped drinking in "public" years ago...but I'd sure rush home to my 12+ pack! So nobody exept my daughter and the trash collector have noticed that I quit....oh, and the liquor store guy. HA

I've kinda learned to stop "announcing" things too...like "I quit drinking" or "I quit smoking" or "I'm going to the gym!"...LOL I promise you that nobody will really notice what you're doing...a couple good friends might, but they won't make it a big deal.

I guess maybe I should stop "announcing" things as well...just so I don't have the questioning all the time. Love your pic btw!!!

I love your pics too K9, you look so bubbly and happy!

Honeysoup, I haven't told anyone this time except you guys and my DH. Eventually I'm sure it'll come out - but we don't socialise that much (no families here and I don't 100% trust babysitters) and so we won't be seeing people for a while. Probably a good thing for now.

I don't want that to happen anymore. I just don't know how to do it...when I start caving in and my mind says its ok to drink...the last thing I want to do is phone a friend to help me not to drink...then they won't let me drink. What can I do on those insane moments when I feel the most like drinking...If I feel like taking a drink then I do...how can I admit it and get over that feeling to get me through the day/night whatever???
I don't like the word 'caving', it's a word which to me makes it sound as if you have no choice. Drinking is always an active choice, albeit influenced by mental and physical cravings. Only you open the bottle, pour the drink, put it into your mouth. Sometimes recognising the craving, rather than fighting it, saying yes I'm having a craving but it will pass and letting it pass can be successful.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
