    My 2 cents

    Hi there,
I am full blown alcoholic. I drink so much every day that you can probably think I should be dead. At least 750ml of Vodka plus so many beers I cannot account for.

I need help. I know. It is my all fault and I do not deny it, but...
But every time i need help and I end up in hospital they just let me go with 1 or HALF valium pil.
I am so angry. I am angry about myself and angry about the system. I pay so much in taxes(alcohol, ciggies) that I believe that I should get a better treatment.
I know it is my fault, buy I pay for my stupid decisions in taxes. Please help me.
When I wake up I shake so much I am unable to go downstairs. My wife brings me something so I can drink and go down. It is not normal.
Doctors will not help me (they said all vital signs are good). Please advise

ialone - First of all you took a step in the right direction. I am sure you are fearful of what to do and its a good thing all your vital signs are good. Have you been completely honest with the doctors you see? You need to tell them the truth about how much you are consuming each day and that you want help. If you are not honest with them they can't help you. Some hospitals just assume and others just go by your word. you need to find a place where you are taken seriously.

You should be very proud you are admitting that you not only need help but that you want help. This is a great place to start...welcome!!!

Keep posting and keep us up to date...don't wait call your doctor or a new doctor today for treatment.

First off Welcome. You are not alone, you are among friends who fully understand what you are going through. I am an alcoholic with 30+ years of hard drinking behind me. When I quit, I was drinking 750 ml of vodka a day, sometimes more sometimes less. I also quit way too many times to count, always rationizing alway why I needed that drink.

The first step for you is to realize that the only one who can make it all stop is you. The government, medical community, family, friends aren't the answer. Yes, there are government programs that can help but what they do best is to put you in jail when you break the law as a result of your drinking. In my experience the medical community is well intentioned but let's face it, they have written us off to a large extent. They have seen so much failure that by and large they really dont invest much beyond what you are committed to do yourself. As for our families and friends, well we hurt them far more than thier capacity to support. You my friend have to take this responsibility unto your own shoulders. Maybe not what you want to hear but if you really want to quit you have to accept this basic fact.

From you symtoms it sounds like you really need to medically detox. Dont take this lightly. Detox can be really dangerous for those few who have the symtoms you describe. The only way you can be truely safe is to sit down with your doctor and get a full workup.

Once you have safely detoxed you need to address the issues behind your drinking. The path to success is very much an individual preference. AA works for some, not for others. Professional counselling works for some and not others...you get the idea. The positive in all this is that it can be done. Many of us are living proof of that.

Stay close to this site you have kindred souls who want to help. Dont be afraid to participate and most importantly dont be afraid to try.

        Good luck my friend.

          Ialone - Welcome!

You've taken a first great step. I agree with the others that the first thing you should do is get REAL medical help. There are medications to get you through the first few days to avoid serious withdrawals. And if the first doctor won't help, go on to the next...and keep going until one DOES help you.

Can you start to taper your drinking...drink a little less each day? Please let us know how you're doing ok?

Google "alcohol treatment" and your city. You will get a list that may include low-cost, or no cost services. If there is emergency treatment available - go for it. If not NOW, when? Do it before something MORE serious develops. It is your life we're talking about. Find something today. Don't wait. Today you wake up shaking - but tomorrow you may not wake up.
10/14/13: I am truly grateful for another day in this amazing life. I'm sober and mindful of every moment.
