Day 1 - Hangover, of course
Sick of this insane lifestyle. Hangover all day, unable to function. Spent the whole day on here, seems to help. Tomorrow will be the real test - for the past 15 years or so, I've been one day drunk and the other hungover. If I don't drink tomorrow, it'll be a miracle, sigh...:new::new:Tags: None

Day 1 - Hangover, of course
Welcome, FiveClover,
It's a wonderful webiste and glad you've become familiar with it. There's a great toolbox of info. in the Monthly Abstinence thread. Check it out. You can get through this, as many people on here have long-term sobriety just by learning and connecting with others on this site.Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Day 1 - Hangover, of course
Welcome Five, good place to come to here. I was a bottle to bottle and a half drinker per day, drank to get rid of the hangover. Just keep on here, i post like a lunatic sometimes, well all the time but keeps me busy and not wanting to drink.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

Day 1 - Hangover, of course
Nice to meet you FC, we're glad you've joined us. You've made a first great step by posting and reading...sticking close to us especially in the first few days is crucial. This is not easy, but it IS doable, and so very worth it. I finally got sober when it became easier NOT to drink than to keep up with the insanity. Please keep posting so we can get to know you better!

Day 1 - Hangover, of course
:welcome:FiveClover - You'll find lots of folks here in all stages of quitting and/or trying to moderate. I fully understand what you mean. One evening of indulgence doesn't seem to be worth the price we pay the next day and night. Glad you found your way here."A good garden may have some weeds"

Day 1 - Hangover, of course
Hi there, fiveclover, and welcome. This is an amazing place. It is such a relief to be among people who really understand, and also to be able to learn directly from people who have been where we have been but are now thoroughly enjoying their sober lives. It's inspirational. Join us in the nest! (apparently - I've just learned - they do prizes for numbers of days sober. I love that sort of thing so am working on a moon... lol... whatever it takes!)

Day 2 - Hanging Strong!
I've kept myself busy through the witching hours (4-?pm) and I'm doing well! It's almost 7pm here - a time when I would typically be well into my first bottle of wine and NOTHING!
All day long, I've be repeating to myself: "I'm losing weight, saving money, and feeling better... why on earth would I want to drink?"
The night is still young though, I'll probably pop back in every hour or so.
Thanks to all of you for the encouragements. The last time I posted in a forum, I had a Compuserve email address! Oy vey!
