    Newbie

Hi, I am a newbie here.

I read My Way Out a couple of years ago. I did the vitamins and amino acids and stopped drinking for about a month. It wasn't too hard. Then I began to think, am I really an alcoholic, and started to drink again.

Here is my situation. I don't drink in the daytime. I don't drink outside of my house. Don't even have an urge. I could go to a bar with a dozen friends, they all could get plastered, and I wouldn't have an urge. To me, that is not my time.

My time is late at night, when my responsibilities are taken care of, the kids are in bed. Then I pull out the Bud Lights and drink (maybe even up to 8-10 cans some nights). That is my time. My relaxation, perhaps my party, time. No where else. I do skip nights, maybe once or twice a week. If I have important things to do the next day, I will skip the beer. But I do miss it.

So I conclude I do have a problem. What to do? So, here I am, in this forum.

I am looking at New Years Day as a starting point. I believe this forum will be a huge asset to my situation.

Has anyone here investigated Faster EFT as a means for addiction control? The results seem remarkable. I will be exploring this.

Another thing that has intrigued me about the MywayOut method is the supplements-- amino acids and vitamins. I know that the protocol has changed a bit since the book was first published. What is the current recommendation?
1000 mg Glutamine (glutamine seems to be the king)
    750 mg GABA
    3400 mg Amino Complete
    750 mg B50
900-3000 mg Kudzu (frankly Kudzu has never done much for me)
    5 tablets Calmes Forte???
    Is this correct?

What is your opinion about DLPA (I am not sure but I think DLPA worked great for me last time)? or Fish Oil? Any other amino acids or supplements I should be looking at?

Hi Senin welcome to MWO. I think you raised a point that lots of people struggle with which keeps us drinking. I did not drink everyday either or get drunk every time had a drink so for a long time I though I cant be an alcoholic for those reasons. But drink was still wrecking my life. I was probably more of a problem drinking but have come to realise the label is irrelavant its the effect drink has on your life that counts. So if you feel drink is having a negative effect on your life then you are in the right place. Loads of good advice and support. I am afraid I cant help much on the meds front but I am sure if you post over on the meds section there will be plenty of memebrs who can answer your questions. welcome and good luck !

      Welcome, Senin.

I'm not sure about supplements as I don't take them. I recommend reading and posting over on the Newbies Nest - lots of us just starting out.

Why don't you start today? You can have a sober Christmas and New Year's! As many around here are fond of saying, there's no perfect day to quit other than today.

        Hi Senin,
What Poppy said! Welcoome to MWO. And we are all here for the same reasons, maybe our stories are similar, maybe not. But like Poppy said, drink is interfering with our lives in a negative way. I know when I came here, people kept asking me to make a plan for not drinking. Write goals. I'm sure you thought of those goals, but it's the plan that will get you there. The toolbox has loads of ideas which is located in Monthly Abs section. You can't get through in one day, but it's an excellent resource. Also, I had gotten this link from someone else here on the forum and you mentioned your interest in this:

        So, again, welcome!
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

          Welcome Senin,
The links to the Tool Box and Newbie's nest are below in my signature line.

There is a lot going on with the problem of Alcoholism...it's a complex thing we share here....I wish I had stopped when I only drank at night to unwind....unfortunately, this is a progressive disease and the winner is AL if it isn't stopped. You are in the right place! We can help! Glad you found us! Byrdie
