Can we get a weight loss tread started up in here?!

Thanks Meshell! I have been "loosely" counting calories all week, I can't get too obsessed or it consumes my day. HA

I did switch coffee for tea, and have been to the gym 4x this week. The sad reality of it is that our weight is 80% dependent on our diet and 20% dependent on exercise...that's what it all boils down to. It's a simple equation....but unfortunately easier said than done! But we can do this....right?? :yougo::yougo::yougo:
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Hi sixtyfour ? congrats on your 6 weeks AF!! Are you are kidding about the weight though ? I?m flabbergasted! I?ll be saving between 1,000-2,000 calories a day by not drinking. I can?t imagine I?ll put on weight (heaven forbid) unless I devour cartons of ice cream and bags of chips every day. I will be watching it closely. 5:2 worked great for me prior to me falling off the dieting wagon for the second half of December. I was on it from 11/17 ? 12/13 and lost 8.5 lbs. I haven?t weighed myself yet, but will do so next week after 2 fasts ? maybe 3. I managed to lose even with booze and unhealthy choices on my normal days. Then I didn?t fast at all for 3 weeks.. I am sure I gained it all back. Shame it didn?t work for you.. I think any IF plan, if you stick to it and eat healthfully during your eating window would work well. It sounds like you have your head on straight with your 16:8.

My joints don?t quite sound as bad as yours, but I still have major issues. I will be going back to the swimming pool and fitness center and doing what I can.. I have really bad knees (from all the excess weight) and so need to be careful with what I do so as not to aggravate them. I?ll go back next week. They are literally around the corner from my house, so I have no excuse.

The weight loss forum I belong to is Low Carb Friends. Lots of wonderful people, and so many forums within it to choose from.. I get a ton of support there. Funny though, out of all my ?friends? there, no one else has a drinking problem. When they talk about indulging, they mean they had 2 glasses of wine twice last week. They?d fall of their rocker if I admitted that when we were out of town for a few days at Xmas I had the equivalent of 60 drinks in 3 days.. I can?t admit that there, only here!

      Waving hi to Halo!! Welcome!!

Can I join you all in the weight loss effort? Day 1 here and ready to turn my life around and get healthy in the process.

I would like to lose 10-15 pounds, I need to start exercising again and I hope with that and being AF I can achieve my goals.

I'm a 57 yo women and am embarrassed as hell that I WAS still drinking like a crazy teenager. It's just ridiculous!

I've missed coming to MWO so much over the last 4 days. Busyness just took hold. Next thing I knew I felt alone in my sobriety. I don't know any non- drinkers except my mother-in-law! I bought the book Mommy Doesn't Drink Here Anymore. It is so good and similar to my story. I read it in one day. I need to talk to my husband about my going to meetings so I can meet some sober people.
As far as weight loss, I've got 12 pounds to go. I know they aren't going to come easy! Welcome Tavi!

How are we doing? Went to eat a piece of keylime pie last night and stopped, pretty happy about that! Also went to the gym today, kind of glad the holidays are over, ate way, way too much. It is nice to get back on a healthy track and have some support as well. Thanks for the hello Dip Girl! Have fun on the wii Tavistock!

We can do this, I'm planning on losing 20 pounds in 4 months, remember to stay hydrated and drink lots of water!!

Just bought the book Fat, Sugar and Salt, will post some interesting tidbits that I read on the site.

Here's to an AF January and a healthy one as well! :l
On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

Hey, DipGal, you gotta pick your battles. From what you have been going though at home we're amazed you haven't melted entirely. Hang in there, and hope hubby is ok.

I take it in strides too. I mean if I drink coffee with cream six times a day I guess that's better than 5 glasses of wine and 4 beers. Right?! We need to keep it in prospective.
I like the book Skinny Bitch it's chalk full of funny lines. I'll share some here and there.
I did well today minus the two left over egg rolls at bedtime. And pardon my saying but it is freezing in Texas tonight! Hugs to all!

Welcome Tavistock from me too! Dipgal, well done for you too in not succombing. Halo - good for you on steering yourself away from the pie! Good advice too, Halo - we must drink enough water! I'm really bad at that. I've gone back to my fasting practice today, made it through to 5pm so I'm pleased with myself! I drink bulletproof coffee in the mornings, which has been shown not to disturb the fast despite containing fat, got back with that today too, and that fills me up really well. All the best for a great AF day, and hope you stay on top with your weight loss plan!

(Edit - I mean I got through to 2pm on my fast as planned, had a small lunch, and now it's 5pm)

Anyone familiar with the Dukan diet? It works for me & is fundamentally about lifestyle change. Check it out.....

                            Hi Eloise

Well done on the AF days! I've tried the Dukan diet, but it just wasn't right for me. I'm not happy with low fat diets, gave it a good try but just knew it wasn't ever going to be my way of eating. My daughter got on much better with it. I guess it goes to show that it's whatever works for you. Good luck on it - how much do you have to lose?

Can we get a weight loss tread started up in here?!

Morning all. I'm getting pretty sick of myself and my so-called desire to lose weight :upset:

If I want this how come I'm not willing to do what I need to do? Forget the alcohol, I'm addicted to food as well :H But the difference is that we have to eat...

Picking the right foods, and eating enough to feel satisfied is the trick for me. If I eat lots of meat and fat I can lose weight quite easily. It's all the other stuff that attracts me - like foods I know bloat me up...oh, well

Decision time: do I want this? If so, time to put up or shut up :H:H
