Can we get a weight loss tread started up in here?!

I put on a few pounds after my quit and then the holidays haven't helped at all! I went over to a weight loss forum, but it just ain't feeling right. I like it here, and I like y'all. Is anyone else interested in popping in here to report weight loss goals, successes, difficulties or what have you?? I'd love the company. Maybe someone is looking to lose tens of pounds or ten pounds. Doesn't matter. Our alcoholism gives us something in common and we know we feel the love here. A place of encouragement.
I'm 5'8" and I currently weight 160. I'd like to weigh 140. I haven't excercised/run in about 8 months. My daughter and I are signed up for a 5k on New Year's Day which we'll be walking. Side note: I signed us up knowing it was a good way for me to keep myself from drinking on New Year's Eve! Happy to have a plan!
Do you have a weight loss need/goal/desire?

    Thanks for reading!

Hi aclassicgirl and I would be interested....lets just say I need to lose 30 pounds...want to get back into jogging/running. Winter cold here so I will need to do this on a treadmill. 5K in the spring would be great.
    Good idea!

Thank you!! I tried to edit my typo in "thread" but doesn't look like it worked!
I would really like it if my clothes fit right! Would be icing on the sweet cake of sobriety!

This is great idea! I lost 30 lb since I quit drinking so I can share what I did and get some advise.

Looks like we are all in the same boat. I'd like to lose about 25 pounds. The holiday season doesn't help. I have plantar fasciitis and have not excersized in 8 months as well. I hate the bike and I hate swimming. Anyway, I will join you!

Can we get a weight loss tread started up in here?!

I haven't read the other posts yet, but YES, can we please do a daily check-in???? I need to get healthy - and ditching the booze and unhealthy food and moving my body all go hand in hand! Thanks for suggesting it aClassicGirl!!!

I am on weight loss forums, and talk about my drinking.. but I don't get much support in that area. I KNOW that cutting the booze is primary.. and then unhealthy food won't be as attractive.

I have a lot to lose.. more than 100 lbs.. I am going back on the 5:2 Fast Diet.. It is an Intermittent Fasting program. You eat normally 5 days a week and eat 500/600 calories 2 days a week. It does more for our health than just an average calorie reduction over the course of a week.. It's good for MANY things. Google it, or I'd be happy to provide some links if anyone is interested.

Can we get a weight loss tread started up in here?!

I just wrote a decent post and accidentally x'd out when I was finished proofing!! Balls!

                  The gist...
My luck, I'd love your advice.
DipGal, I'm about to Google that diet. Thanks. I love a good diet. Motivates me.

Cutting my coffee and cream. It's been mostly cream lately, and I've been downing the stuff since AF. Will report that I had tea tomorrow (hoping/praying). I used to drink tea, and I drink it plain.
I lost interest in the weight loss forum when after a few days I chimed in skipping a margarita at dinner and 12 days sober. The next post was a guy that wrote he had beer for supper! Hmmm...LOL not my idea of a good read. I felt like replying, "Thanks, A**hole!"
                  I didn't.

This is the gist of the post I closed myself out of. This post by no means is full of the meat and wit of the original. Night all! Keep sharing!

Is there a way to correct my misspelling on the thread title? If not, I'll just quote everyone into a new thread. Thanks!

                      I don't see a misspelling.

But I think "tread" works in a punny sort of way! Also, the eye tends to correct and read what it expects to, which is why I never saw the typo either.

I just posted this link https://www.drinkaware.co.uk/about-us on another forum, but recommend it as it includes calories in drinks as well as units and lots of other health stuff.

I'm joining all of you because I just started exercising regularly again (I use the Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred Level One) AND am counting calories as I cut my drinking back (again...). My husband and I are also going to start eating more moderately starting tomorrow. It really helps when your nearest and dearest have the same goals.

Oh, haha...didn't see that! Hi DG! I entered my drinks on that program a couple of weeks ago. Results very scarey and that is why I am here and serious!!

Yes - the unending RED on my chart was sobering (yes, pun intended - I seem to be on a roll).

I've been reading some of your other posts, DGal, and want to say that one of my troubles in cutting back, abstaining, and so on is that my husband has a more serious problem than I do (yes, and with the depression and anxiety factors). It shows more in me, of course, because alcohol affects women more. I also happily, don't have those psychological reasons to self-medicate. I'm just an alcoholic... sigh....

Hang in there - one nice thing on the DrinakAware chart is the little sliding button that shows what would change even with just one less drink. the other (which I think is VERY encouraging) is that it adds up your units and calories constantly for the last seven days. So each day that the red alarm bars recede, the units go down, the cals go down, the future looks brighter.

DG, thanks for trying to get to know me better. Will have to check you out! YES, the RED.. OMG.. I was thinking - just kill me now! haha

I won't be needing the site just yet. For today and tomorrow I don't give a hoot.. Starting Thursday I am going to do everything in my power to abstain for at least 30 days. Once I try to moderate, that site will
be a godsend I am sure. Thanks for telling me about the tools it has. Once I saw all the red I just shut my computer down... and had a drink..
