F*%£ing wine o'clock! Damn u!!
So I'm moseying along, managing to keep myself outta trouble & dark places, (while eating my body weight in food granted), when 9pm rolls around!! Or wine o clock as it's formally known in this gaff!! Christ on a bike, why oh why does it trigger such a bad craving? Who knew a time on a clock cud strike (forgive the pun) such a response!

Sorry to hear you're struggling Jammy! Ride it out....remember WHY you don't drink wine anymore. Do whatever it takes, the craving will pass. Sticking close to here is a great idea...I'm glad you posted! :l:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

Jammy, wine o' clock came much earlier in my neck of the woods:blush:. Distraction is the way to go - in my first week or so I took a long bath - bubbles, candles, coffee - instead of sitting outside, glass in hand, looking at the mountains. Small sacrifice, big rewards. And it does pass, promise, as soon as you replace one ritual with another.14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

Wine O'clock for me was within 20 minutes or less of getting home for the day. When I worked mornings that would mean I started drinking by 1:30 in the afternoon. More recently around 7pm in the evening. I would care more about the booze than food or family for that matter. There have been times when I have dreaded going home because I know the first thing I am going to want to do is pull out that cork screw, have a fag, and read to decompress. Have to learn more coping mechanisms and ways to deal with triggers. I also would be triggered if I saw a commercial or a movie where the actor is enjoying a glass of wine. It is crazy how many ways we associate actions, pictures, sounds, and smells to certain behaviors. We have to identify the triggers and then reteach/learn the appropriate responses to those cues, not go get another glass of wine. I wish you luck on your journey. The more you are perceptive to the cues and triggers the better it will be to adapt to them and have an action plan in place in case you encounter them outside of normal habitations.:earth: Tree23

Oh wine o'clock was about 5.15pm for me. Leave work, drive home, pop into one of 5 bottlos that i did the rotation on, god forbid they would think i was an alcoholic!. Get home, feed the dogs and YES wine time until pass out time. When i stopped i drank so much coffee I didnt sleep well. As Tree says I am sure every tv show i watched people were sipping al, bastards! Its just keeping busy and as time goes on the witching hour recedes. Now i come home, yell at the boys for doing nothing, do the washing, have a cuppa, talk to the said boys and i dont even have an urge to have a wine. it feels great to get over that hurdle.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

Blasted witching hour! It has become a habit to drink at that time, but with time and strength it will become a habit not to drink.
You can do it, and it will get easier, the start up part is the worst part of itLiving on Planet Sober since 05/02/11

And EAT - LOTS if you have to
My first day I ate a WHOLE FRUIT BRACK :H
10,000 cals but got me through - I was so full I had no desire to drink :goodjob:
Next day was easier when I realised I wasn't going to die
