          Baccus,
Hats off to you. Your son needs you. What a lucky boy he is to have a parent that knows it. My mom had huge success with AA but like you not the first go around. The meetings all have different personalities. Find one you click with - Great support according to mom! Great support here too. I have found it amazing how many people suffer the same!! I am with you - one day at a time!!

            Hi Baccus and welcome.

I have a little boy too, so know what you're going though too. I tried AA, but it wasn't for me. I have found this programme, specifically the support from this forum, works tons better ...AA just scared the pants off me ! But, it's worked for many many people so, go along and see, but do not be down hearted if you don't like it, try another meeting.

Just read lots on this site too, there's so much that rings a bell...and there's always someone somewhere online to talk to!

            Good luck with your journey

Hi Baccus and Jobo, a huge :welcome: to mwo .....

I like you was drinking 2 plus bottles of wine everynight but last year started in the morning as well..... Not good, and I was also on anti depressants ......

I gradually cut down my drinking and now can moderate quite nicely, and also your depression gets better without the alchohol,

Hang in there keep coming here, and please don't consider a life without your child ....

              Love & Hugs :h :l :h

                  Hi Bacchus

Did you find the linky thing - it is beside the welcome bit at the very top of the forum page with bit about drink tracker.

I need to get some fags but am worried might get a beer as well at the shop. So am going to put my jammies on.

I went to AA once and didnt enjoy it. A friend is going to take me to some nice groups in London so will report back.

                  Much love

                  Kath

Sorry folks in the US and elsewhere fags are what we call cigarettes I know they mean something else in other parts of the world so that post might sound strange.

                      Newbie too!

Hi B - and other UK people here...I ordered the book and cds today. I just have to change - my liver is sore and I've been drinking before and after work since my Dad died after Christmas. But have always been a serious drinker and just want to drink socially. I am just wondering whether the drugs are necessary as I understand we can't get them here. Do you know? Best, S:new:

Shushu, not doing the medication myself but I know you can get campral here in the uk from your GP, don't think there are as many side effects compared to topa (can't get this here). My mam has been on campral many times. Janice

                          hi all
i'm 2 minutes into this. i've tried AA and will probably go back - but haven't the 'botle' to stay off completely - not brav enough and perhaps looking for easy way out but isn't a lot of what AA indorse is about sharing stories and supporting eachother?

anyway, i saw Baccus there and wanted to say really well done.

                              Hi Baccus.

How did the AA work out? I've thought about it, but have always been worried who would be there as I live in a small town.
read what you guys have said about the recycling- I have been buying wine in those 3 litre boxes, just to save the embaressment in the street. trouble is a box of wine isn't lasting as long as it used to.

Same here Capricorn - I remember years ago a box of wine would last us weeks, now its two for the weekend (well it was, until 17 days ago - now hubby's wading through one himself!!) If I can keep it going we're gonna save a lot of money!
