Imatree, I started out for the first 4 weeks drinking less then I just got so sick of myself I just quit. Don’t be hard on your self. I asked my doc for topa for migraine and she gave it to me. I’ve lost 5 pounds in 1 week since I stopped drinking beer! Yippee! I’m looking forward to loosing the extra 10-15 more I’ve been carrying around for the last 12 years.

Good luck to all you guys. You all sound so determined - you are an inspiration. I've been AF for a while now, and it does get easier with time. But I still have to honestly face my addiction every day. Companionship and friendship is what makes it all possible. You've got that here!! Keep posting.......
:yougo: :yougo: :yougo: :yougo:Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

soo close!
I'm on day 6 here ... I came soo close tonight. It was raining and I stopped by 7-11 for water rather than the grocery store that has my Perrier - what is it about 7-11 for me? I walked into one and then right back out. Then into another one a block later and bought beer. Got it all the way home, got the bottle opener on the cap and froze. I opted for 3 waters instead (thank God there were some left from yesterday). They're still in the fridge and I think I need to dump them.
I'm going back to the US next week (where I get to be in a wedding and then 1.5 weeks in Mexico - good God how would I ever stay sober !?!) then moving to a new apartment when I return, which will be good for me. I only work 3 blocks from my office and no matter which way I walk I pass 8 - 12 bars that are usually hopping by the time I'm leaving work. Ugh ... so much temptation. I thought it would be so fun living in party central. What a poor decision.
Not sure what goal I have here, but I could tell I was in the wrong state of mind to drink. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been moderate in any way, shape or form!

J-man, sounds like temptation is all around you. Stay cool, stay safe and what ever you do stay close. Don't be hard on your self, weddings... well... when your ready you'll know it, that's all I can say and we'll be here for you. Who knows, you might be able to say 'no' to all those temptations.
Day 10 for me AF and I'm feeling great. I'm doing a 3 day meditation retreat this weekend.
Everyone, good luck this weekend. I know I'll be staying AF, no temtations where I'm going.

Gave in to the red wine on Saturday night after 6 days AF. Back to being AF again and hope to make it through another week. Still waiting for Topa to arrive. really to keen to see if that helps. Have read a lot of positive stuff about it on this site. Hope everyone else is managing at least a few AF days as well

Hi everyone, day 3 for me and I want to try for 30 with y'all! I have a party to go to on the weekend, and I am going to think of it as a challenge. I have done this before and felt wonderful. Part of my problem is having people think I have a drinking problem so I have continued on as usual...haha...wonder if they have figured it out yet...I passed out in front of my neighbors on Friday night...hmmmm

Hi Baccus - how are you and where are you - day eight now? I joined in with your lets go for a thirty as you sounded so upbeat and for it. Since then I haven't seen a posting from you, perhaps I've lost the thread - it is a bit bewildering for a newbie; I picked this up from your member profile. I also so decided to join you as I have my aged & frail mum staying with me, and she said I just wouldn't know what to do if anything happened to you. I thought this was probably her euphemism for; she needs help during the night, only to find me completely bladdered, and she doesn't know how to use a french phone. I knew it was time to get real and take responsibility (long long overdue) - gosh I'm rambling on, I saw that somebody had there wrists slapped for unappropriate posts in a thread (don't remember seeing any regs about that), any way I'm still in, I guess the others are too, and together we will get there with you shepherding us with your enthusiasm to our 30 daf. Let's do it. Stay in touch Baccus - A.G.
