    Kairos back again

    Kairos,

I'm right there with you! I could have written your post. Wine was my drink of choice and I will stop for a while, start thinking that I can handle drinking, then I'm back to the same old habits.

Hopefully this is the last time for both of us!

    Best,

Good to see you again Kairos!

Ah...the elusive dream of "moderation". Once you learn to let it go and realize that you don't have to drink anymore, things will get so much easier! Why struggle with the inner battle? It's sooo much easier to not have one drink, than to quit after a couple. If you browse the Moderation Threads, you will see that the amounts they consume is not "moderate". Maybe compared to what they used to drink, but still not moderate. The last thing I want to do is start the Moderation vs. Abstinence War again...but being honest with yourself is the FIRST step in recovering. You can't get better if you don't acknowledge the extent of your sickness.

Keep hanging in there. When times get tough, come here and read, read, read and POST...someone will always be around to help!

Thanks for your support. I'll be looking out for you in the next few weeks as I live my life free of AL for the first time in a long time. Frances, I'm glad you resonate with the name Kairos. We need as many moments of Grace as we can get.
Lavande, Yes I can relate to gratitude. I have so much to be thankful and grateful for.
And yes, I am also sick and tired
of making the same old choices.
So today is DAY ONE of the rest of my life.
Thanks again guys. I may need you from time to time. I usually find the first week really tricky.

                Kairos back again

                I've had quite a day.
I walked somewhere between 10-11 miles this morning. Took me about just over 3 hours.
I went out tonight with 8 other friends for dinner to celebrate someone's birthday.
I had nothing to drink except water and I am very proud to say that I'm now home and typing this
                message to MWO forum!

                  Hi all,
Can't believe it's Day 7 already. Today I'm going out for a 10 mile walk again.
In case any of you are wondering, I haven't swapped my addiction to al for an addiction to walking.
But we (husband) are planning a 500 mile walk in early April and I need to get the practice in.

Nothing wrong with being addicted to walking anyways, out in the fresh air, clearing your mind, making your body stronger, nothing wrong at all

I think I might be really beginning to believe - tentatively- that this is for real.
I feel different this time. It's early days I know and maybe I'd be better to keep my mouth shut
but there it is, for what it's worth.

Sounding strong. Where is your 500 mile walk? Walking around outdoors is my favorite form of exercise - have been thinking the Pacific Crest Trail (just part of it) for my 50th in a few years.

                          Hi Pavati,
Have just noticed your question here. We are off in just over a week. Prefer not to talk about the destination if you don't mind but still feeling fit and hopeful. I've got 30 days today and quietly enjoying it. Wish me luck

CONGRATULATIONS on your 30 days. Success is sweet.

                              Thanks Pav,
I appreciate it. We're off in exactly a week on our trek.
I hope to be back again in 6 weeks time still sober.
Hopefully by then I'll be headed for 80 days but I don't want
to get ahead of myself here on Day 31. I'm just so grateful for what I have.
                              Take Care,
